smart - never take the first thought but the second. Like for example when you answer a question. Don't answer the obvious what anybody can do but take a moment and take the next one which comes to your mind. Usually this is a better one.
Always look on both sides of a problem - as the neutral observer. And then make your mind up before you speak to one of the parties.
Never talk bad about people and do not even think bad about them. People are people. If you love them they love you back (and think you are smart).
Education helps, experience and maturity help. Humbleness helps in all aspects of life.
Joegirard.com - if you read his short story about he became the most succesful car sales man ever - this is a story which applies to any situation and anybody, I was very impressed with this.

Go to school. If for some reason you can't afford it, go to the library and read as many books as you can. Knowledge is power.

well the only way to be smart would be to work hard! you cant get easier then this, there is no other way to get smart, unless you wanna cheat, but i would never advise you to do that
