Tank the Cat is 7 1/2 years old. This just began and occurs when he is getting patted and his purr motor is running overtime!

I did indeed take Tank the Cat later today to get his gums checked - many thanks to your sage advice! No problem there, but, the vet could not give me a clinical explanation about this behaviour!
Thank you ãll so very much for your replies!

some canines have extra then others. If he has alot of wrinkles or droopy epidermis round his mouth saliva builds up after which will come out even as he's extra hyper or relaxes his face. If this isn't a element for then you definately it might want to correctly be from getting excited and his equipment pumps up and produces extra saliva because of this. that's particularly well-known even with the actuality that.

I see a certain girl living up to her name....what is rabids?? Lol. And drooling doesn't mean a cat has rabies.
My male drools a bit when he's being loved on, too. Drooling can indicate an infection in the mouth, so I'd get him checked out. But since he's not drooling all the time, but just when he's being petted, I wouldn't worry too much.

Aahhh...cat drool.
Don't worry, he's so incredibly content with you that his jaw hangs loose and he drools. Sometimes, my orange tabby Murry will drool even in his sleep...which is perfectly disgusting when he sleeps with me....lucky you it's just a few drops.
Also, Tank isn't exactly old, but lift up his lip to check if anything is red and inflamed...or even if he has a buildup of tartar on his teeth. if he does, visit and consult your local vet. (When I say 'not exactly old' I refer to the fact that all of my cats lived to at LEAST 18 years old...the eldest was 22...prehistoric in veteranary terms really.)
If Tank is obviously happy, I wouldn't worry at all. Just make sure that he keeps on purrin'!

Aah yes...the old drooling cat!! I had a big orange tabby who drooled like a drunken bum when he was happy...it was embarrassing!! He was missing a couple of teeth...I always thought that was why the saliva ran out of his mouth. He would just purr and purr and drool and drool and smile...great cat!!
I've had other cats that drool some, I think it just means they are so happy they can't stand it!!

That's normal, some cats drool when they are very happy and relaxed, like when they get a good petting or do kneading behavior.

Ours drools ALL the time when he's really happy, so count your blessings! (Have you ever tried to get a slobber-bib on a cat?--trust me, it's not pretty....) Drooling seems to be associated with complete relaxation and happiness.

Wow... I have never heard of that one before. May be it is just clear vomit, or dental problems.OOOOOOOHHH!
I just read that cats salivate when they are nervous dont worry its probably not that serious make it fell more comfortable at home. If that doesnt help see a vet. If you cant aford it just visit some websites they will give you awesome info.
I HOPE IT GETS BETTER! Good Luck!

My cat is forever drooling when I pet her. And she is only about 2 years old. So it isn't an older cat thing, this is a happy cat thing.
