Say he falls out a window and gets hurt. No crime has been committed and it's a holiday or late at night so you can't swing him by the vet could you call 9-11 and they'd sent somebody over to save him from dying or tell you they cannot help you, 9-11 is for humans only?

Actually, I don't have a car either. So the emergency vet people will come pick him up too? Or if my cat breaks his leg he's just SOL until he dies from the infection?

I looked it up in the phone book and it's local so I could call a cab if they allow animals in the cab. Thanks to the person that said to look it up in the phone book and keep it handy.

I think the people at 911 services would be a bit irked if you did that... Most places have an emergency vet that's open on holidays or at night, best to look one up now and have the #/address on hand just in case, so you aren't scrambling to find out after an accident really happens.

No 911 is for human emergencies only, as others stated there are 24 hour and emergency vet clinics check online or call directory assistance or the phone book. In fact, have those numbers ahead of time so when and if you need them they are there and easily accessible...

In many places you can be fined for calling 911 for something like this. It is reserved for human emergencies, but of course it depends upon the area and the individual operator as to whether or not they actually follow through with a fine.

As many have said most larger cities and urban areas have 24 hour emercency animal facilities, and in a rural area a lot of vets give out their home phone numbers for emercencies.

Absolutely NOT! 911 is for emergency situations involving human beings. There are emergency vet numbers everywhere..DO NOT call 911 for an animal..unless there is a chance you are being injured by one. Good grief.

Only if you want to go to jail! 9-1-1 is only for human emergencies. Check with your vet, they should have an emergency number that you can call.

Do not call 911 they are the police they are not vets. There may be an emergency vet place near you but they are quite expensive.

Better to keep your windows closed.

We have 24-hour emergency vet clinics where we live. I'd be afraid to call 9-1-1, but I guess the only thing they can tell you is "no."

If you were to call 911 for your pet, they would advise you to get a hold of a vet or emergency vet hospital. 911 is for human emergencies only.

Sounds like a crime has been commited--maybe he was thrown out the window...most vets have emergency numbers, call your cat's vet. Cats usually land on their paws.
