After approximately 2000 years of having two major religions which both claim to follow a loving and caring god...why is there still so much hate in this world?

How many more thousands of years will christians and muslims hate, despise, and kill each other before those of us more evolved humans can live in peace?

How many more thousands of years do you people have to spill each others' blood and the blood of those caught in the middle of your insanity before one of your lazy gods shows up to put an end to it all?

Do you really think all this hatred and murder, thousands of years of it, is the will of some loving and caring god? Does death scare you so much that you will hang on to this evil no matter how many people have to die?

And christians, please spare me the "answers" where you point the finger at others, don't be the typical coward and claim christianity has made this world a better place to live. Try to have some intellectual honesty for once in your lives...

To the ignorant protestant....i think it is you who needs more history lessons...do you know how much blood is on the hands of Martin Loothor and his followers? Oh...but you probably think all the murdering of catholics by protestants is righteous judgement right? LOL...so why didn't your weak little god free them from the grip of the demonic catholics? why did protestants have to get blood on their hands...?

And as for some christians being different than the more muderous christians...same book, same family...blood on your hands anyway, guilt by association. Maybe you should pick a religion that does not feed extremists with every thing they need to justify their extremism..

Unfortunately regardless of religion, many people remain extreme. Issues of lack of education, job opportunities, cultural influences, lack of tolerance for others, being taught to hate, and a general misunderstanding of religion create all of this hatred.

I am personally an atheist with a tremendous respect for other peoples beliefs. I was raised in a multi-religion, multi-cultural, multi-lingual home. I was very lucky for that. Many people live in desparate situations with little or no hope for a brighter future. They are taught by man (and woman). Religion is not a perfect thing, there is much room for interpretation, and misinterpretation. I believe that until these societies are able to provide prosperous lives for their citizens, these religious extremists will continue to thrive. For many people the idea of a greater cause in the face of so much oppression is the most they can make of their lives.

The 'war on terror' will never suceed. It will only continue to feul hatred and violence. Maybe if we had a 'war on poverty' or a 'war on war' or a 'war on lack of education and a chance of a future' then we could get somewhere. You can never positively influence people with violence and guns. It is so simple and yet seems to be so difficult for people to understand. If govts tried to feed, education, properly house, and create social services, health care, and things like electricity and clean water for their citizens, then maybe they would be less interested in the extreme religious leaders and would have more to lose.

This can not happen until people start to actually care about others and stop hating what they don't understand. Stop demonizing each other and start talking to each other. How can you ever expect to resolve anything if you refuse to talk? Ridiculous.

If you really want to talk about Christians "Spreading Hate"

First you should read the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
See how much violence you can find in there. It is a book of our views and beliefs, no wiggle room to justify injustice. The Catholic Church has not always been perfect but the Catholic faith is. We admit where our ancestors failed and learned from their mistakes.

That is why I became Catholic!

I have studied all faiths for over 20 years, with an open mind, I was Protestant before I became Catholic. I am not a blind follower of anything.

Please read it, you will be surprised!

Peace!

Well first of all I love how you are so simple minded that you just take anyone who says there a christian and put them in a 'christian' catagory. Just because people claim something doesn't make it true. Christians, real christians, do not hate anyone.
Second I love how you put yourself along with all others who aren't christian or islamic, in a 'more evolved' group. If you knew the theory of evolution you would know that there is no more or less of evolution. You can't have an animal more evolved then another animal, they just evolve differently, according to that theory.
Why would death scare us if we are going to heaven. have you ever thought about not existing. You yourself just not being. If you try you will probably find that although it seems like an easy concept it really isn't. That is one reason I believe. Notice how there was no finger pointing. I just gave my thoughts on your questions.

It's that Exclusivity doctrine. Most of the Abrahamic religions believe that theirs is the only one that can possibly be right and that by definition everyone else is wrong at best and evil at worst. That sort of thing is a breeding ground for bigotry and the often-seen stance of "holier than thou". And of course each faith is so copnvinced that they are right that one day the entire world will know it...either by converting or being destroyed for their "lack of faith".

Then there's the condescending "middle ground" where people (Mormons and Catholics for instance) "admit" that other faiths have garnets of wisdom in them, but only THEY have the "WHOLE TRUTH" (whatever the hell that means). In either case, it's very easy to slip further down the path from pity or apathy into active dislike and even hatred for those who are different.

Read the Bible. It's supposed to happen this way. It has to happen this way. Humanity has to make a choice. How long will it go on was one of your questions... Until Jesus returns... it's in Revelations. If you read no other book in the Bible, just for understanding, you might read Revelations. Radical Muslims and radical Christians will come head to head until Israel will be attacked and Jesus will return to claim His inheritance. Of course, none of this can happen until everyone has heard the Good News. It's just the way it is. If there were peace among nations, would people have to choose? The only peace you will find is the semblance of it that comes by the Holy Ghost to believers. By the way, I don't hate anyone. I hope to understand and not judge prematurely. I especially attempt to avoid generalizations... unless they are clearly made in the Bible.

Christianity and Islam have not been the major two religions for 2000 years. Islam is only about 1400 years old.

You have Christians confused with Catholics. Catholics and Muslims have done all the murdering over the centuries. Take a history class, for Pete's sake.
