I found this on talktothevet.com:

We've all heard it, "Don't give your dog chocolate it will kill him". We'll how true is it you're probably wondering. Do I have to rush him to an emergency vet if he ate one of my M&M's?

The truth is chocolate contains theobromine that is toxic to dogs in sufficient quantities. This is a xanthine compound in the same family of caffeine, and theophylline.

Toxic Levels

The good news is that it takes, on average, a fairly large amount of theobromine 100-150 mg/kg to cause a toxic reaction. Although there are variables to consider like the individual sensitivity, animal size and chocolate concentration.

On average,
Milk chocolate contains 44 mg of theobromine per oz.
Semisweet chocolate contains 150mg/oz.
Baker's chocolate 390mg/oz.

Using a dose of 100 mg/kg as the toxic dose it comes out roughly as:
1 ounce per 1 pound of body weight for Milk chocolate
1 ounce per 3 pounds of body weight for Semisweet chocolate
1 ounce per 9 pounds of body weight for Baker's chocolate.

Chocolate isn't good for your dog, but only two cocoa puffs won't hurt him. Semi-sweet chocolate is the worst for them. If he eats something like a candy bar then make him vomit. I doubt two cocoa puffs will upset his stomach.

No, your dog will be fine. One time my dog ate a whole candy bar and I called the vet and she said that mostly the dark baking chocolate will hurt them not the fake chocolate like in cocoa puffs.

Vets say chocolate is poisonous to dogs, so not a good treat. But if accidentally ate 2 puffs, probably no harm done. Supposedly darker the chocolate worse it is for them. My rat terrier went into my purse once and ate 2 whole dingdongs and didn"t anything except scare me at the time.

particular, she would be superb. Cocoa Puffs have this way of small quantity of truthfully baker's chocolate that it is not something to be bothered approximately. darkish Chocolate is often the worst and what you easily should be careful of. despite if your dogs might arise with a super adequate quantity of chocolate to make her ill, as long as you're taking her to the vet she might generally be superb. The veterinarian might provide her some thing to bring about vomiting. Assuming the dogs is dealt with rapidly, it is in many cases not a controversy. For the destiny, please teach your dogs the "bypass away it" command in case some thing quite risky falls on the floor. stable luck alongside with your doggy!
