Look for the best job you can possibly get, one with a boss or company standard that understands the modern family and allows the leeway you need. -- Join a Mom's Group, local or online, so you have other adults to talk to and lean on. There should also be a single parents assoc in your area, for like $50/year they arrange activities for all the single parents to get together at least once per month. -- These groups can also lead to a mom's circle, or do one with your existing friends, where you trade off taking the other's kids for outings or sleepovers while the other mom gets some time off. One group I know uses poker chips, the person getting a night off writes the amount of time on the chip and gives it to the other person who can then trade that chip back when they want some time. -- PLAN the time with your children and make sure they are on a schedule as much as possible. The more consistency, the less stress you will have. Plan activities you can all enjoy together, including quiet time like reading. If they are old enough, Chuck E Cheese & McD's and similar are a great escape. The kids will spend the whole time meeting other kids and running around playing while you can relax and breath. Some grocery stores now have play centers inside as well that keep your kids ages 2-8 for up to 2-hours while you shop (or eat at the deli..LOL) so look around. -- Remember that some day they will be grown and you will be asking how to handle the stress without them :-)

Happy Hour at ANY given times! Yo MUST get outside hobbies/activites in your life..TRUST me. I have 4 sons (8 -18) and you can implode from the stress of raising kids alone. Take some YOU time and NEVER feel guilty about time away from the kids because you need it so you can be all you can be to and for them. If your stressed, depressed and/or just f*ucked up....what chance do they have? Whoop Whoop Mama! Oh and pay no mind to the b*tch above me!!

I am not necessarily a single mother persay, but my fiance got in a little trouble and is doing some jail time. We have two boys, I've learned that you have to take time for yourself every now and again. That's what keeps the stress level down for me.

Fine something to do that makes you happy, and take time out once in a while to treat yourself. I know it makes some mum fell guilty but you have to or you will end up taking the stress out on your kids

When I was a single mom.....boxing.
Seriously, I needed something physical to take my frustrations out on. I would just 'whump' away until I got tired. I'm no longer single, my boys are well adjusted adults and no one 'died' in the process:) .....hang in there.
