Not exactly, however it can. Double talk, right? Ensure really provides you with the vitamins and fat calories that you are not getting otherwise. It's good for those who are sick and/or not eating properly. Once you start drinking several ensures per day, you get vits & calories that had been missing from your diet, so yes, you gain weight because you're eating properly.
I hope you are not ill. If you are looking to gain weight because you think you are too thin (but healthy) try adding protein to your diet. Chicken, peanut butter and beans are excellent sources. Also add extra dairy to your everyday diet and recipes, i.e. milk, hard cheese, light cream. Protein shakes are also good for putting on a few pounds. Be sure that the pounds are healthy pounds and not just fat.
Finally, you can always do the above and add weight training to your regime. That combo will do the trick!

To be honest, I have used ensure ( the strawberry tastes the best) since I have joined the Army in 2002, and I have not seen any difference. It won't make you gain weight unless you mis use it like any other products. It was designed to replace meals or for an on the go type shake. I drink about 4 a day (almost the case) and I have not gained any weight. I lost like 4 or 5 pounds though.

I think that ensure is more likely to provide you with the vitamins you need, and not help you to gain weight. I believe it also "keeps you regular", know what I mean?

Gaining weight with extra milk and dairy products
Drink milk as your beverage with meals. It has more calories and protein than juice, tea, water, or soft drinks. If you don't care for regular milk, try chocolate milk, buttermilk, egg nog, hot cocoa or milkshakes.
Use milk instead of water to make soups and hot cereals.
Make extra-strength milk by mixing 2 heaping tablespoons of dry powdered milk into every cup of milk that you use.
Regular milk has more calories than low-fat milk or sweet acidophillus milk. "Half and Half" has the most calories of them all. It can be used in place of milk for drinking and in any recipe.
Nonfat dry milk powder can be added to a lot of foods to give them more protein. You'll never taste it in there. Try adding it to raw ground beef before making it into hamburger patties, meatballs or meatloaf. You can also add it to any casserole, macaroni and cheese, tuna or egg salad, hot or cold cereal, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, milkshakes and puddings.
Have ice cream as your dessert often. It also makes a great snack in a bowl or a cone. You might also try adding it to breakfast cereal in the morning. Top your waffles or pancakes with ice cream.

Yeah kinda, it's a meal replacement thing, but it has a lot of vitamins too. They told my mom she should drink that when she was getting chemo, so she would maintain some weight.
