I would like to go into health care, or some type of a career in health, or something to do with writting books ,or reading or something. My sophomore year in highschool i took an immense interest in massage therapy, and my senior year i did a project on massage therapy in order to graduate, the mentor i had, for the project, turned me away from those idea's of becomming a massage therapist, because of the way she commented on my responsiblility in my project.
I am scared that i will not find a career, and will not be able to support my family when the time comes to have one. I want to have a successful life, but i do not have the money to pay for a college career, I understand that there are scholarships and grants, but i just need help in finding something i will be happy in doing. I understand that a lot of people change jobs over the years, and that most will not be happy with their first career choice, but i just need some help, maybe websites or a place that could help.

see your guidance counselor or go to the library and get a book on career placement tests. that can help you define your interests.

it's also not uncommon for people to change their minds in college. my friends daughter originally started to study to go into nursing and changed to become a math teacher - go figure!

I would try speaking to a career counselor at a local college campus. Although you may not have decided to attend college yet, they have people that will speak with you. I understand money can be a problem, but there is nothing wrong with taking out a loan or grant. Even try for a scholarship. It will pay off in the long wrong. A lot of people don't know what they want to do exactly until they begin that first year or so of college. College is not like high school. There are many courses for you to choose from, and you may find a course that interests you enough to start a career in that field. Going to college will allow you to explore all these options. Good luck!

You should find something you are deeply interested in and passionate about. But for practical reasons, the health care industry offers job security. Be a nurse, a dentist, or a doctor. massage therapy is also a lucrative career. You can also go into medical assistant type of work or a licensed practical nurse. I guess, you just have to go for 1 year of education. God bless you in your endeavours.

I would certainly revisit your interest in massage therapy and try and understand what it was that attracted you to the vocation and then expand on the career possibilities. For example, I was in high school I was very interested in animals and I wanted to become an animal doctor. Instead I studied business in college and now own a chain of pet shops where I work closely with animal doctors for the dogs, cats and other animals I offer and animal farms where they breed and care for the animals before going to the pet shops for customers to purchase.

ALL types of physical therapy are ridiculously in demand, quite rewarding, and well paying!

Your point is so valid because I think a lot of people go through life and get their dreams shot down by one professor, teacher, mentor, ect... but if that's what you've always wanted then by God get back out there and try again!

If you really find it is not for you then look for something new, but don't let someone else's words let you decide that, if your still happy to do that then take it further.

working on a job that uses your innate strengths generates the most pay. I'd find that kind of job and use the money to create opportunities to find the "right" career. Yahoo web search can get you some self-assessment sites and most need a fee to get the report. Otherwise, try the public library on self-assessment books that you can borrow.
