I just read the most horrible thing about shelters, and how the dogs life is after going there. 50% of all dogs in shelters are pure breds, with papers. Most shelters are so full that the dog only has 72 hrs to find a home. After that they are uthanized. It is a huge problem. You can help with this by not breeding your dog. Love her for being a member of your family, and treasure her. You do not know what will come of those puppies, they may end up in shelters or breed and add even more dogs to shelters. It is so sad. I say fix her. The younger, the easier it is on them.

NO! Get her spayed as soon as your vet will. Some vets say let her have a first season, but there is no true reason for this. Spaying also known as an ovarian hysterectomy, is a procedure where the ovaries are removed. Therefore, cutting the risks of ovarian cancer. Do not let her have a litter of puupies. There are homeless puppies all over the world looking for homes. They need to be found homes before any more are bred. Got to the nearest vet who will spay your dog without her having a season first. I work at a rescue, where somebody brought their dog into us as she cannot control it, but she said she wanted it back afterwards. The dog is in season, and there is quite a lot of blood. It's not nice for you, your dog, or the carpets!

Have her spayed now and don't wait for her first heat. The sooner, the better. Especially don't let her her a litter of puppies. It's not worth the risks involved and she will be healthier and have lower risks to certain types of cancers.
MYTH: "My female should have at least one litter before she is spayed."
FACT: No, the sooner your female is spayed, the better. Not only do younger animals better tolerate the surgery, but the sooner she is spayed, the sooner, you'll be able to prevent unwanted litters, and quicker the health benefits will begin.

It's best to spay your puppy before the first heat. After the first heat (or second or more), the chances of cancers later on increase. And plus, the more your dog weighs, the more it costs to get spayed. Our puppy is going to be 4 months old in a couple days, and she has her vet appt this upcoming monday to be spayed. =)

Dogs go through a heat which will last up to three weeks twice a year. So if you do not want to clean up that mess we use a diaper and maxi pad it is the easiest way. Why do I tell you all this because if you have her spayed she will not get her periods again I Know that everyone always want to breed their dog at least once I have an English bull dog that I would love to breed but I can't find a male. Anyway it is your choice and a decision only you can handle.

If you don't plan on raising and selling pups, I'd spay her at 6 mo.
She doesn't need to have pups first or have first season. (If she is small breed, could have first season before 6 mo) Chance of her mating with undesirables is high and if small breed could be bred by bigger dog and end up in trouble--like c-section or worse. Spay and neuter is humane thing to do. Both my dogs are "fixed." Female never had a season, and she was fine.

My dog is a male and I had him spayed at 6 months, but not sure about female dogs. I have heard that you should let a female have a litter before having them spayed. Hope this helps.

Have her spayed as soon as your vet reccomends. If you wait until after her first heat her chances of getting certain types of cancer will increase. And letting her have a litter of puppies before spaying her does waaay more harm than good.

YES!!!!!! get her spayed!!!!!! there are TOO MANY unwanted dogs and cats being euthanized in shelters everyday, if she is spayed before her first heat cycle then her chances of cancer are GREATLY reduced, it is NOT psychologically beneficial for them to go through their first heat OR raise a litter of puppies. Be responsible, do the right thing, get her fixed
