Does it cost anything to change the date on an airline ticket? Does it depend on the airline?

it does depend on the airline and yeah they do charge. Its typically around $50, but talk to the airline or go to their site to be sure.

It doesn't depend on the airline, it depends on the type of ticket you have. For this, one will need to know the fare basis of the ticket you hold. Each fare basis (signified on the ticket and says something like "KEURBA" or perhaps just "Y") has a set of rules attached to it and these rules will determine if you can change the ticket at all and if so, how much you will have to pay. The charge may be a fee plus an "upgrade" to a higher fare (not cabin) as may be required. You will need to contact either the airline directly or go back with the ticket to the travel agent you bought it from as wiithout that fare basis, how much and if you can change at all cannot be known.

i thinkit depends on airline and maybe the reason. most will charge you for changing the date, i think
