I used to go to an LDS church about 4 years ago and am curious to know what other peoples experiences have been. Please be as constructive as possible. Some of the nicest/spirtual people I know are LDS, but coming from a non LDS background it is hard to understand/accept certain things. Thanks.

I am a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Several years after I joined I married a LDS man and we have raised our 7 children and now have 19 grandchildren. The support that the church has given our family is priceless. If you have any questions I can answer please feel free to email me.

I am really not sure exactly what you want to know. It might help if we knew exactly why you stopped attending church. If there was a problem or a misunderstanding I am sure whatever it was can be resolved.
I have had so many good experiences being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that I can't even count them. It has truly blessed my life in more ways then even I know. LDS people as a whole are very compassionate people. Of course, there are exceptions in any group. If you have any questions, feel free to cantact me.
Also, I would recommend you watch general conference this weekend. You might find some of your questions answered there!

I have been LDS all my life and have lived in different regions of the US. I have had good and bad experiences at church. (But far more good than bad). All of the bad experiences were the doings of people, not God. People make mistakes. But it doesn't always mean that they don't care about you.

In the East, there were very few members. Most of the people in my ward were either inactive or they were very strong in their commitment. I had a bishop who made some bad choices. But most of my experiences back East were good.

In the West, there are so many members. I was surprised that I didn't know everyone who was LDS in my school. Church was a bit different too. Some people who came to church just seemed to be going through the motions. They were active in attendance, but not always active in their testimony.

My experiences out West have also been good. The big difference I see is that there are more cliques. I don't always get noticed when I attend other wards. But I suppose that's human nature. I don't lose faith because of the actions of some. I look to God for ultimate support in my trials. The strength of man (or woman) can fail. But God's strength is always constant.

I hope this is the kind of answer you were looking for.

I have been a member of the LDS church my whole life. Have I ever doubted? Yes. Have I ever not wanted to go? Yes. But through it all, I cannot deny that it is the true church of Jesus Christ. It is a wonderful church full of wonderful people who are very sincere in their beliefs and in their efforts to live good lives and help their fellow man. Probably the best way to learn more about the church is to go to a local ward building for their Sunday services. There will be people there that can sit down with you and answer all your questions. Or, there are missionaries in your area who could stop by at your convenience and answer your questions at your home. For more info via the internet, check out the official church webpage: www.lds.org

Good luck! :-)

The best thing you can do is have the missionaries come over and talk with you.
Contact me if you would like them to...I can help arrange it.

A very good website is LDS.org, this is the official site of the church.

Also, General Conference is this weekend, you can even watch it on the internet if you don't have a channel it is being broadcast on. It is always wonderful to hear the Lord's prophets! They are so in-tune with the spirit.

hi there i come from a non-LDS background but became a member of the church 4 years ago myself. it has been truly a blessing since. your right some of the most awesome people i know are members. but in saying that i have plenty of non-member friends who are choice spirits as well. i myself and my twin are the only members of the church in my family of 9. im not perfect but im grateful at the opportunities i have had to help in service projects. i have grown spiritually and mentally so much since 2002 and i know its only because i became a member of the church. what things did you find difficult to understand. initially for me it was to respect the priesthood only because i had such bad examples in my family of alcoholism that i found it hard to respect any male leadership figure. but my bishop was really awesome and the leaders in my old ward were such that i totally respect church leaders now. i joined when i was 19 years old so i was straight away in relief society which has been an awesome experience for me learning from mothers and single adults. i love mostly hearing their mission stories.

For me, it been great. I think it was the most challenging to follow when I was a teenager, and dating, but still gave me a lot of strength to get through those awkward years in one peice.

You know it just so happens that General Conference is this weekend, you can get a live stream from www.lds.org, I think it would be a good way to get your toe in the water and see how you feel about the doctrine without having to face all the people in a sunday service.

best wishes

I went as a child, but my parents stopped going when they got divorced. I started going again a year ago and my husband got baptized 2 months ago. It's a really great church, with a lot of great activities for the youth, as well as the adults. You will hear a lot of misinformation out there (like we practice polygamy, and that we worship Joseph Smith), but since you went before you must know it's not true. If you have any specific questions you can e-mail me.

I like to answer questions. I served as a missionary in Puerto Rico several years ago. Sometimes questions come up because they are not explained on a level people understand. Feel free to contact me if you want.

Hey. No judgement here. All i know is that I once called that phone number from that commercial that said that you would receive a free bible from the church of the latter day saints, and they sent me my bible plus some mormon men came to my house to study the bible with me. Then they gave me a blue book and said it was another part to the bible. Something about Jesus coming to America. Sounds like a good Eddie Murphy movie to me. :o)
