Appropriate treatment depends on the disease and should be guided by laboratory analysis of the antibiotic sensitivities of the infecting strain of E. coli. As Gram-negative organisms, coli are resistant to many antibiotics which are effective against Gram-positive organisms. Antibiotics which may be used to treat E. coli infection include (but are not limited to) amoxycillin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, ciprofloxacin, nitrofurantoin. Not all antibiotics are suitable for every disease caused by E. coli, and the advice of a physician should be sought.
Antibiotic resistance is a growing problem. Some of this is due to overuse of antibiotics in humans, but some of it is probably due to the use of antibiotics as growth promoters in food animals

I believe there are a few different strains of E. Coli. The one's at risk most are children, elderly and those with weakened immune systems. If she's under a doctor's care, doubtful she's dying. If she's not, whether it's E. Coli would be questionable. And then, even if it were, improperly treated could lead to resistance. That is, not taking the antibiotics as Rx or stopping treatment before it's completed.

E.coli is a bacteria. The appropriate antibiotic would be necessary for people that become infected with it. E. coli is commonly found in feces. Since these people become dangerously ill, IV (intravenous) is in order This is referring to those that ingest the bacteria. Not all people have such a reaction to it..Fever control, hydration issues must be addressed. Most commonly is the urinary tract infection common among women. The culprit is usually but not always E, coli since the anus and urethra are close, contamination can occur. Women should wipe front to back in efforts to avoid a UTI.. Wash all your fruits and vegetables with warm water and thoroughly cook meats and you should never encounter such a problem Have a nice day.
