Well... leaving your child in day-care for the first time is rough. He will be fine! He'll get to like the other kids as he gets older, even if he doesn't right now. Remember day-care providers are trained to handle kids- fussy ones AND happy ones, so even if he does cry they'll be able to calm him down. Ask them how he is during the day and get regular reports to see how he's adjusting. Everything will be fine as soon as he gets used to it- and believe me, he's going to HAVE to at some point. He will NOT hate you. If anything it will make him happier to see you.

Good luck!

It's called separation anxiety...it's totally normal for a child to cry when his mommy or daddy leave him...even for a short while. He will be fine and in no time he will make friends...maybe forever friends. It's a good thing for any child to have this type of interaction as it teaches them that it's ok for mommies and daddies to leave, that they will come back...it also teaches them to share and to interact with other children about their age. This is an important social issue for kids to learn and the earlier the better.

don't worry about that,i stayed with my 3 yrs old son for three years ,he was sooo close to me even if i go anywhere at home ,he was following me like my shadow...than it was time to go to a school (for delay children)from 8 to 11 am ,i was so scary like you, cause my son has no one but me & his father ..first day (only) he cry a lot but after that it was totally different ,he loved the school ,& he become excited to go even in the week end.something you have to do is :WHEN YOU DRIVE HIM TO THE DAYCARE,DONT STAY TO FIND OUT HIS REACTION ,LEAVE HIM ,AND DONT BE DEPRESSE IF HE CRY FOR THE FIRST DAY ,YOU WILL BE SURPRISED AFTER 2 DAYS ONLY .HE WILL GET USED TO IT.GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

Nope, he'll get used to it. My daughter cried for two weeks (all day) when I returned to work. On the third Monday when I went to pick her up she was playing with a couple of other children, the care giver told her I was there she came running to me, (I thought to give me a hug and kiss because she missed me), and told me to go home. She was having fun and didn't want to be disturbed!

He will get used to it, I promise. Just give it some time.
