You could use the educational data base ERIC. Most university libraries have multiple data bases that cover current topics. These articles are from magazines and journals. Most of these articles are research that has taken place with in the year or are very current in there information.

When you read current topics like issue that are headlines, books are out dated. It take a year or two to have a book published. Information in that book is not as current as a database article. database are updated on a weekly basis.

Teachers in Ohio should be able to recommend the books you want. The Ohio legislature is trying to pass a Controversial Issues Act regarding the teaching of that very issue.

I graduated 8 years ago, and at that point, no. The subject was barely touched. I learned more thankfully in college while getting a degree in Biology.

Unfortunately, it's somewhat too current for books. Try periodicals and news and interviews if you need citable resources.
