Is that real bad? Does that require glasses with real thick lenses?

No, your vision impairment is minor at this point. That is a very mild prescription.

It means that you have to be 20 feet from an object to clearly see it when a person with normal vision can be 50 feet from the object to see it clearly. You are most likely nearsighted, but astigmatism and farsightedness depending on the severity can also cause a person's vision to be 20/50 as well. The vision in my left eye is about 20/50 and caused by astigmatism. You should wear corrective lenses for activities that require good distance vision such as driving or in your case pilot training.

it means you can see something at 20 yards the same other people can see it at 50 yards (or is it feet, i forget) and you will need glasses but there is a whole array of glasses, you can get ultra thin lenses with very high power these days so don't worry about them being thick.. plus your vision is what is important anyway.

not really thick would be 20/400 20/300 20/200 20/100 the higher the last number is the worse your vision so dont worry you should be okay

It is not horrible but it means what you can see at 20 feet other people could see from 50 feet..Very easy to correct..Mine is 20/200 and no thick glasses for me
