One don't stare at the cat , it is a type of aggression if you find yourself looking into the cats eyes, blink slowly to show kitty you mean no harm...Most cats don't like other people that don't live in the home so don't feel bad. They do it to everyone not a member or their pride..Bring kitty treats but know that kitty probability will not come near you till a long time has passed. Throw the treat toward the kitty as kitty is unlikely to take it out of your hand, as trust has to be earned for a cat. Just spend time with the cat and take it day by day. No quick moments and no loud noises. Best of wishes

The cat won't let you near your boyfriend or the cat just doesn't want to be around?

Some cats take a long time to adjust to new people.

Bribery. :) When you come over to visit your boyfriend bring a can of moist food with you to give him. If he is as crazy about it like most cats are, he should start to equate you coming over to mean something good.

I also agree you should otherwise ignore the cat at this point, as staring or forcing petting on a cat can seem threatening to them even if you mean well.

if you want the cat to like you get something it likes and give it to him.let it smell you and get a little closer to the cat every day.( you ) if it don't work just leave it alone and pay more attention to your boyfriend and get the cat jealous. don't let your friend spend time with it. take the cat to the same room with you every day and care for it. it will start liking you.

All cats don't take to "strangers" so it may need a little time.

Also, cats simply hate to be ignored. So practice ignoring for now and the cat will eventually come to you.

I hate cats, make that cat disappear if you want the relationship to last.

You know, a set of 4 concrete shoes...

Animals are a good judge of people. Chances are you are a total ***** and there is a reason the cat doesn't like you. I advise you to clean up your act and get a better personality.

the cat is being protective. give it time and it will accept you. giving it a treat now and then might help, too.
