Your best bet is TrenItalia.... www.trenitalia.com ..... It's the easiest and cheapest way. The trip will be about an hour and a half. Don't forget to get your 'biglietto' (ticket) validated before you get on the train. You can get the ticket at a station or any local travel agency. Good luck!

You can hire a driver to take you to Florence. If you hire the driver for the day you will be able to see many things. Pre purchase your tickets to see "DAVID" at the Michelangelo Museum, stop by and see the "Leaning Tower of Pisa", visit the wonderful Cathedral in Florence. If are a shopper there is wonderful shopping in Florence they have excellent leather products. You can go shopping at the Gucci and Prada outlets great savings there. The driver will know how to make your time in Florence very eventful and you will hit all of the key sites. It will be well worth the monies spent. Happy travel.

you could go by train, but it's longer than the car.
If you have a car, I suggest you not to take the Highway (it's the most expensive in Italy!), but the Freeway Firenze-Pisa-Livorno.
We just call it "Fi-Pi-Li".
Less than 1 hour you get to Florence!

Good jouney!
