I see them complain about removing "under god" from the pledge, or "in god we trust" from the money as if undoing prior injustices they caused is somehow a form of oppression.
To them, anyone who doesn't aid their desire to spread their mental virus is an oppressor. They are incapable of looking at things objectively.

It's simple: Whenever another faith (like Paganism or Wicca, say) demands equal time or equal consideration, the Christians scream "OPPRESSION!" When people point out the hypocrisy of their claims versus their history, they scream "OPPRESSION!" When someone takes away a special privlege that other religions do not enjoy (such as school clubs or public display of religous dogma), they scream "OPPRESSION!".
You see, nearly every denomination considers themselves the "TRUE" Christians, and everyone else is either misguides, wrong or EVIL. And since there are so many denominations, each feels justified in proclaiming minority status. Never mind that the definition of a Christian is someone who worships the Christian god.

Well, I admit theres much about gay rights, but I fail to know anything about American muslim or atheist rights. We are no longer allowed to speak of God in government or schools because of the atheists rights to never have to be intimidated by that frightening word "God", so quite honestly, I don't know what you're talking about. The legal principles of this country are not christian, or abortion wouldn't be legal, which it is and we would be allowed to display the 10 Commandments like we use to, which of course we can't anymore.. So perhaps you could elaborate on exactly how we are oppressing anyone or how you figure we are so entrenched with our God? I'm just guessing here that the muslims are not very happy with not being allowed to pray in public either, along with the jews, so how in the world would anyone categorize atheists and muslims lumped together like this? I think before you go criticizing another countries society, you should get a clue first.

I am a Christian and I am blessed...God provides all I need and I don't see any reason to whine as you say....maybe those you are referring to are new in the Lord or are not mature Christians ...and you also must realize that those who come on answers are such a minute part of this countries believers...just a drop in the bucket and most of what you are seeing here answering are teens.....because Christians in this country are truly blessed and I might add this country is truly blessed because of those who pray and believe...

In the material world there is a constant battle for supremacy going on, this mentality is based on envy, which promotes self aggrandisement and collective self aggrandisement endorsements, based on an inducted standard of values and beliefs formulated by sources that are often dubious and questionable.
The false identification with these temporary manifestations of identity lead to hypocrisy and constant friction, in which the religious component is reduced to merely an extension of national politics with an objective of global economic expansion.
Propaganda drives the masses, in many cases to a destination that is diametrically opposed to the conclusion of religious based doctrine, that operates as an active pacifier to those who allow themselves to be manipulated by simplistic faith systems which massages an individual/collective sense of piety.
Not that this should discount real spirituality in any way, your intelligent question induces a focus on the impurities and subversive motivation that provides the group response mechanism, which is instigated by a programmed sociological induction of information, designed to promote economic/global expansion rather then promote spiritual advancement.

I believe it's a political strategy that has come from powerful conservative Christian leaders and trickled down. Convincing Christians that their rights are being trampled is a good way to whip them up into a frenzy and mobilize them to vote, etc. Now the average Evangelical seems to really believe it.
P.S. There are lots of Christians here who aren't whiners, you're just hearing the vocal ones.

Speaking strictly as a Christian who does not feel oppressed or threatened, I do know an awful lot of "Christians" are not happy unless they can feel like a martyr.

You seem to know a whole lot for somebody so far away.
How is that working for ya over there?
What part of the "Group of Christians" that looks silly are you really seeing?
What is your perspective?
I am a Christian and I am not whining for my civil rights, and I am not taking others away either, there is no laws against Muslims, they are free to preach openly here. Atheists are free to worship (or not) here, Gays are not thrown in jail or be-headed here.
Why is your dog even in this hunt?
Peace!

Christianity has always had a false persecution complex.
I like to tell them that if they work REALLY REALLY hard at fighting the discrimination against them, that SOMEDAY they may actually succeed in having an openly christian president.
that usually causes them to go cross-eyed and drool a bit before they incomprehensibly try to reply.
