Christians, I am teaching a course about evangelism and just thought I'd throw this question out there. Be honest. Do you share your faith with others regularly, and if not, why not? What are your concerns/fears/excuses etc.

Also if you are willing to say, how do you share your faith, and what is the general reaction that you get with your method?

Thanks for your input!

I Encourage you all to go to www.markcahill.org
and/or find the book
"One Think You you Can't Do in Heaven" and read it, it just might change the way you look at life.
This is just my encouragement, not shoving anything down anyone's throat lol. Haha, funny how non-christians love to judge Christians at any chance they can get when their biggest claim is that we should not judge them. But despite that, I apologize on behalf of Christians for any "offense" that may have been thrown on whoever. Christians aren't perfect, and we should not claim to be. But we do have a cure for a disease that we all have, and sharing that cure with people is our job, whether we are a good doctor or bad one.
Sorry if the analogy doesn't make since to some of you.
Anyways, have a great day!

Sadly, not as much as I should.I think sometimes I get caught up in life[children, work, bills etc.]I do know that my actions and words
influence other people[nonbelievers]I have had many people come to me and ask me about Jesus.I never hide my beliefs about God or the fact that I am a christian. If we have guests over for dinner I still say say grace before eating and leave them to decide if they want to thank God or not.
When I do I speak about Jesus,I do it gently.I don't like the way some of our fellow christians try to shove Jesus down nonbelievers throats.
When I was growing up my mama went to church[with us kids] and my father stayed at home.My mama finally convinced him to go[after a whole lot of praying].He went twice a week for about a month. He had not been saved but he was asking more and more about God.Our family life improved drastically. Then one sunday he wasn't feeling well and decided to stay home.
That day the men of the church decided to show him the errors of his ways. They came to our house and were very condescending.I wasn't in the room when it happend but I was outside when he climbed out of the bathroom window and down a drainpipe[just to get away from them].
Ever since he has always said "If that is how christians are I don't want to be one."He believes in a higher power but will not listen or talk about God.
I think christians need to remember that we represent Christ and nonbelievers link our actions and words with him.So when christians are out spreading the good word, they should do it with love and kindness not with pride as if they are better than people that are not saved.Christians are not perfect.

Yes, I do but more as an example than evangelist. I'm a youth pastor so most kids already know my story. If I'm asked, I tell my opinion and how Jesus has made a change in me. Otherwise, I just serve others and they can see that something is different in me. That alone opens a lot of doors to share the gospel.

On the other hand, my husband shares like an evangelist, and I get kinda embarassed sometimes because he's really loud and brash, "telling it like it is". It turns off a lot of people, at his work his co-workers avoided him for a long time. (Now they love him). He is very vocal and unashamed of praying in public, going up to strangers and sharing with them, and he's also not ashamed of telling someone who is doing something rude or illegal to knock it off - then proceed to minister to them.

I HATE when he does that (like when we're on a date and he starts preaching to the people in the booth next to us at a restaurant) but we have definietely seen some fruit beause of it - new converts, people rededicating their lives, and getting plugged back in to church.

I share my faith every chance I get. I would say in some way I talk about Him to somebody everyday, even if it's just mentioning the Lord's name it sometimes gets people thinking. Honestly though I could do better. I don't get to share as often as I'd like. I think most people fear rejection, but I kinda like a good dispute on the subject, it keeps me wanting to learn more.

When I still had complete faith in Jesus as being the Christ, I would share my faith with anyone who cared to have the discussion. If they didn't, I didn't. If at any time the conversation got the slightest bit heated, I'd suggest a break. People appreciated my extremely calm demeanor and my use of careful logic and down-to-earth terms for the complex ideas in the Bible. I never had reason to be afraid because when it came down to it, I only would have the conversation with people who wanted to have it. I knew even back then that to shove the Bible down someone's throat was only to guarantee that they'd vomit it back up in disgust.

funny you should ask. we have a ministry named the "Call" which teaches how to share your faith in a simple way. we use evangelism explosion curriculum to do this. the people leading this class have pointed out that we can not save anyone, that's the Holy Spirits job. we can be tools in the hand of God. In reading the book Jesus told His disciples to make other disciples not believers. so we must follow His example to do the same.

I am an introvert, therefore it is very difficult to strike up a conversation with someone about any topic, but when I do, it is practically impossible for me not to share my faith and the goodness of the Lord. However, my closest friends and family, who know me at a deeper level, respect me, admire me, and voucher for me, because of the way I live my life. That, my friend Tommy, is the most powerful way of sharing the gospel/faith in Jesus Christ that I know. People really listen to silence, they "listen" to your actions rather than your words. That is what I call evangelism.
I hope you share this with your class.

God Bless You.

The best way to share your religion is to follow its path. In doing so others will be drawn to your kind deeds and acts. When they ask you why you are the way you are, this is the time to share your faith. I see to many people force feeding religion to other people who have not asked to hear about it. I only share my faith after being asked about it so it will have the most impact on the person asking. People only open their minds up to new ideas they have seen in action or are actively trying to learn about it.

I try, but how are we to share our beliefs with all the smart alecs on this site. I truly wish Yahoo would put a site that serious religious people could get on. I have tried so hard on this one, but all I get are people who think they are witty, funny, self centered, attention seekers, and all the weird people in the universe, it seems. God bless

I am a nurse and I share my faith each day I go to work....I don't preach but allow my actions to be as close to Jesus as I can and it really is the greatest witness .....people actually come to me and then I share.....so as I learn to walk like Jesus ..the Holy Spirit is able to work more through my life....it is awesome.
