Oh, God, yes!!! We just had a bottle of the Nero D'Avola (Ruggero di Tasso) last night!!! We had it with a hearty beef soup and it was just yummy... and the last glass we had with a bit of cheese, nuts and chocolate... tasty tannins in a glass there...

This one is a great find for us at Trader Joe's and with a good bit of breath before drinking, the jammy fruit comes through with a pow! I'm constantly stunned that I can get wine like this for $5 a bottle - lol The Italian regional reds never disappoint... and I keep reminding myself that Italians know that wine is something that should be affordable enough to serve with every meal and still taste so pleasant that it compliments every bite :)

From Canada.
I'm not sure about Americans, but I like sicilian wines. Wines from Planeta are among my favorite.

SICILIA IGT PLANETA - COMETA 2004
SYRAH SICILIA - PLANETA 01/02

NERO D'AVOLA SICILIA IGT - FEUDO D'ELIMI 2003
Is a great BBQ wine.
