In a nice way, of course. It's a poor witness - if I were a visitor to his church I would be turned off horribly.

According to what I see and hear, Christians are supposed to tell each other when they see sin. In that case, he's committing one of the seven deadly sins: gluttony. It you're going to play fair with all of us "sinners," you better tell him too.

On a serious note: For being so loving and accepting, Christians seem overly-concerned about outward appearance. Please define "turned off' and "poor witness." Would it affect the offering basket? In that case, the fiscal viability of the church is at stake. Holy hot fudge sundae! Alert him immediately!

No, it should not be done .... as you have no idea what type of medical problems he has or whether he is already working on his weight problem. Just because a person is morbidly obese, doesn't mean it is 'all' from overeating. There are diseases that cause this and we should all remember this before we judge overweight people.

In the Bible it states, "Judge not, lest ye be judged". It also states "Those without sin, cast the first stone". We may not all be obese, but we are all sinners with sins and problems of our own we should deal with.. If the pastor could no longer be used by God, God will deal with this pastor.

Each of us should remember the scripture verses in
Matthew 7:3-5 where it states the following:

3) "Why do you see the speck in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
4) Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log in your own eye?
5) First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye."

{{You stated "if I were a visitor to his church I would be turned off horribly."}}

Does this mean you are neither a member of the church OR a visitor? Why would it be a concern at all if you aren't in fellowship with this church?

Pray for him.

I would send an anonymous note. There are even websites that let you do this. But do it out of love for his health. Not because you find overweight people a horrible turn off.

If he is happy being overweight then let him be. Best thing you can do is pray for him and stop inviting him to Hometown Buffet each Sunday after service.

Yes, and when you find out, write Pastor John Hagee at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas and tell him.

Edit:

I didn't realize "Christians" were so tolerant. Based on previous comments, it appears all the whining about queers and abortion is superficial. If we are going to overlook obvious "sins" (gluttony), then we need to overlook all of them.

When are churches going to invite unrepentant murderers, rapists, child molesters and other criminals to lead their churches?

Obtain smaller plates. Little crockery means portion control is really a lot easier – those diminutive amounts suddenly look huge and you’ll be happier to consume less.

Most obese folks, I'm thinking, are totally aware that they should "lose weight." You only heap condemnation upon them when you speak such unhelpful judgment into their lives--even nicely. Try to find something positive, encouraging to say to the pastor.
