As a college student, the time is coming that I need to decide upon a major. It is a secular college so a theological degree is out... at least from here. What major would be of the most use to me in conjunction with a seminary degree?

I would appreciate those people who have nothing to contribute to please not answer in ways that attack me. I insulted no one and do not wish to be insulted. Your beliefs are your right. As are mine. All of you that are contributing, thank you.

My dad was a pastor until he retired. I also have many friends who are in seminary and many friends parents who are pastors. They recommend that college students get a regular secular degree so they can use it if they need to take on a second job. Most pastors need more than 1 job to make ends meet financially. Especially if the pastoral position is not full time.
If you really want to be in conjunction with a Seminary degree try studying history. It's amazing to see how much coincides with Biblical History. (Have you ever thought about transfering to a Christian college? I would recommend a Christian Liberal Arts college. Their degrees are well recognized.)

Well that depends if you want to be a minister of a denomination or of a non-denomination. Also if your going to a secular college or a bible college or perhaps even taking a correspondence course.

The best thing to do is talk to your Pastor and ask him. That is what I did and now I'm about a year away from getting my Certificate of Ministry.

I extremely think of that people who desire to evangelise the gospel might income a great deal from a perfect training in Bible. inspite of the incontrovertible fact that to bind this style of requirement is legalism. Nowhere does Scripture place such requirement upon people who might show. That suggested, I extremely comprehend the limitless advantages to having a perfect training in Bible, biblical languages, church history, and so on. i might question the information of the questioner that the Holy Spirit publications a believer in analyzing Scripture. If that have been authentic, why do we no longer see uniformity in doctrine between people who're honest in attempting to nicely known and do the desire of God?
