Prophet of Islam; conqueror of Arabia; Hart recognized that ranking Muhammad first might be controversial, but felt that, from a secular historian's perspective, this was the correct choice because Muhammad is the only man to have been both a founder of a major world religion and a major military/political leader.

I think more weight should be given to the number 1 ranking.......

That is a strange list. Why is the inventor of photography on it for example. many of the people had no religious relevance and some of them are not even that influential.

I question the accuracy of the list. Both Washington and Jefferson died as Deists. The list seems to give more credence to what religion people were born into rather than what they actually believed.

Influental people? To whom? how was that defined? I'm sure if a chinese did it he would pick 100 communists. This is all very loose. (i'm catholic and we "won" with 31% and i stil think this is just too vague)
