This made me giggle. You're getting a lot of hateful responses, so I just wanted to give you kudos :)

(It's a sacrifice, too, I'll get more thumbs-down than usual for agreeing with you on this. I get thumbs down even on the neutral answers because these guys hate me.)

Well, about every other day in what is known as "Speaker Circle" on this university campus, someone is yelling and shouting about how I will go to hell. If I pass too close to them, they will get in my face and ask me if I have given my heart to the lord and then tell me what a harlot I am for not believing.

Then there were all the times we had an organized prayer to start the school day.

When I was a witness in a court trial, I was asked to swear on the Bible.

The other day I walked into the courthouse and couldn't avoid the Ten Commandments chiseled into the foyer wall that I had to pass to get into the building.

Just last week someone was complaining that the school should ban Shakespeare because it speaks of the occult, suicide, witches, Roman gods, etc.

When I went to get an abortion, I was jeered at and called names by local parishioners.

When I went to vote on whether gay marriage should be legal, I nearly had to push my way through the crowd of church-goers insisting it was an abomination.

1. My brother was a fundie for a bit and would say little tid bits here and there and when I refuted, it became an all out fight.
2. I was picking up my brother from church and his pastor invited me to go to bible study. When I mentioned I was an Atheist, he began trying to prove God's existence right there in the parking lot.
3. I'm known as the Atheist among my brother's church friends. So I can just be chilling at home and suddenly five born again Christians walk in with my brother and "subtly" try to get me to prove my beliefs.
4. I ask a question here marked only for Atheists and I get a lot of fundies telling me I'm going to hell and try to prove me wrong (unless the question is too logical for them, then they leave me alone).
5. Fundies the got upset when they saw me kiss a girl in a diner (the nerve!) called me an abomination and said that I better repent and find a man soon.

1. Door to door people
2. Public prayers or prayers at work events before we eat. What am I supposed to do? Go outside to get away from it?
3. People trying to have legal jurisdiction over MY UTERUS.
4. Ban on gay marriages.
5. Bibles in Hotels...I don't see a Qu'ran or a Torah, always a Bible
6. A christian group protesting at a near-by military funeral about "God hates fags" when the soldier that died in Iraq wasn't even gay.
7. (Deserving reiteration) KEEP YOUR BIBLE OUT OF MY UTERUS!!!!

Blimey, I've lost count, but lest see; there was the priest who called on my parents when I was about 13 to see why I was not going to church. I told him why and he dint like it, but he had no answer for my arguments. Or the religion teacher who used to describe in some considerable detail the horrors that awaited us if we didn't believe in his god (I think he enjoyed trying to frighten us). Or the preachers in the town centre who shout and bawl and follow you until you take a leaflet (which is then dumped of course). Or the poor blind fools who use their religion as a excuse for their bigotry. And its not just Christians. I've been pestered by god-bothers of all denominations (Mormons, Muslims, strange alien worshipping sects) and none of them, not one of them, can claim their beliefs have a single shred of hard evidence to back them up. Religion is all smoke and mirrors - believing without evidence - but all believers pretend it has real substance. It does not.

How long do you have? I'll give you my top two:

Once at a bowling alley in high school, the god squad confronted a friend of mine for wearing a Marilyn Manson t-shirt. Dubious taste in music aside, they went on to scream and yell at us for about a half hour before the cops were called, I sh!t you not. They made about as much sense as the christians do on here.

Another time, at a party, some useless hippie decided to convert me, when she saw I wasn't having, she damned me to hell.

Is that satisfactory?

Hmmm.. How about the time the church up the road sent people door to door to ask if I was "saved" and then proceeded to rattle off some bs scripture before I shut the door in their face.

How about at public events such as high schools, etc., when we have to hear a public prayer "in jesus' name"? Happens all the time, but I'm sure you probably forget that part of it, huh?

You're walking down the street and your shopping, minding your own business, when some christian hands you some pamphlet that tells you that you are going to hell. You're at work minding your business and someone just starts preaching at you because you don't believe what they believe, like I'm sure you do.

Better yet, how about you tell us about the time you actually got what "just a figure of speech" means.

Luckily I do not live in a "bible belt-ish" type area. I generally only have to deal with them when they come to my door and I have no chance to pretend I'm not home. 'Course, maybe they did "swoop" done on MY HOME to intrude and do their shoving.

Christain have been SHOVING THEIR BULLSHIT LIES DOWN THE THROATS OF MILLIONS FOR CENTURIES.
Onward Christian Soldiers , My ***.
Let's see...they wiped out the Celts because they believed in A Goddess,
then they started the Crusades, why? Because they believed in something different..
then they had the Spanish Inquistion Why because they believe in something different.
How about the Witch burnings in Massachettes in the 1600's..because they believed in something different.

HOW DARE YOU TALK THIS CRAP ABOUT YOUR BULLSHIT GOD WHEN YOU ARE AT FAULT>THE CHRISTIANS STARTED THIS WAR WITH THE MUSILUMS CENTURIES AGO>IT IS YOUR FAULT

Hmmmm. Let's see.....How about the time I was downtown and going to meet some friends at a club one night and 3 bible thumpers stopped me and asked if I believed in Jesus. I said no and tried to keep walking but they blocked my path, backed me up against a wall and repeatedly told me to repent or go to hell...

OR

The time I was again downtown and sitting with my friends who play their guitars on the street and a little group of bible thumpers sat down in front of us and started trying to get us to read verses in the bible and talk to the people listening while my friends were trying to make money for their rent. They drove off all the people who were listening to my friends.....

Need another? I 've got a few more........

Edit: None for YA huh? Here's one...

I posted a benign question for Pagans and it was reported and removed. I had about 25 answers and 20 YES 20 of them were from "Christians" telling me to repent, read the bible, go to hell, I'm evil and all that crap along with numerous bible verse quotes. So there you go......
