The constitution.

The flag is but a symbol and can be destroyed, but the ideology behind it will live on.

The constitution is the basis of our government. Without it, our country would have never been, and without it the country would have fallen within mere decades.

The constitution is the cornerstone (or should be) of our lives.

Both our America flag and the Constitution is deserving of respect and preservation. Protecting and keeping the Constitution the way it was first written is the most important.

The flag is a rag that has been turned into an idol. Quite ironic, since the Bible proscribes idolatry.

The Constitution is the foundation of America.

Patriots support the Constitution, and could care less about the flag.

Fascists support the flag, and could care less about the Constitution.

Both. One is the nation's governmental framework, and the other represents what that framework is all about. When people see our nation's flag, the know what we are about because of our Constitution.

Off topic, addressing raisingtheblinds' statement about separation of church and state; that was from a letter written by Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist Association, and not included in the Constitution.

The Danbury Baptists were concerned about government interference in religion, and establishing a National church, much like Great Britain had. Jefferson was letting them know that the government was not going to interfere in religion, and that there would be no state church. It did not mean what it has come to mean now. The interpretation that we have today began in the 40's, when the Supreme Court used Jefferson's words and perverted what he said. The article at the link will go into more detail about the real history of it.

The Constitution, because it is an actual legal framework, whereas the flag is simply a symbol.

Chainsaw, if you think the lying liberals made up the bit about the separation of church and state, perhaps you should read a history book.

Here's a quote from Thomas Jefferson in 1802:

"I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between church and state."

You've just got to hate those liberals, haven't you...

They deserve equal. We have not preserved the Constitution for years. Activist judges make laws that the legislature should. Specifically,

1. Roe V Wade that made abortion legal. Since abortion is not mentioned in the Constitution, it is reserved for the states. See the Tenth Amendment. They have no business making laws.

2. The gross attack on Christianity and the First Amendment. The First Amendment states that the government shall make no law establishing a national religion nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof. This has been perverted into a seperation of church and state by lying liberals. They made up this concept and used it to throw prayer out of schools. They have used it to attack churches from using federal money to run social programs. They have attacked religious symbols such as the Ten Commandments. The list goes on for miles.
