Marines are FRONT Line
Army is backup and support.

Where do you want to stand? on the front line or in the back?

The idea that Marines are front line and the Army is support is laughable. Ever heard of Airborne Infantry, a Green Berets, Delta Force, Paratroopers, and Rangers? Every one of those are better suited for combat than standard marines, and even most of the Marine Recon. And it's a well-known fact that the 75th Ranger Regiment is the Spear head of America's entire military. Marines are definitely some tough SOB's, but they don't stack up against the Army.

Its seems that all the smack talk comes from people who are related to, married to, know some one that is either Army or Marine.

You will never hear a Marine thats been in combat talk down to an Army soldier thats also been in combat, and vice versa. Those of us that been in the **** know what it takes and respect those that have been.

I was in the Army 8 years and went through it all. I was in air assault units, cohort units, attached to ranger units and special forces, worked for CIA, and with time comes the sharing of knowledge. I was an air assault and NBC instructor. As an A.A. instructor I got to work with Seals, Marines, and even some other foreign troops that attended the class. All were professional and wanted to improve their craft. You can ask them if my training was soft? I guarantee they will say it otherwise.

I'm not going to insult all those wannabees that talked smack but I will say if you are going to go into a certain branch ask yourself what it is you wish to do? where you wish to be stationed at? what do you wish to do afterwards? Go with your gut and good luck.

As smiles said, the Army being support is laughable usually the secure different zones of battle. Like say the needed to secure a beach area and surrounding buildings, they'd bring the Marines. Say they needed to secure the other side of the city and it's countryside buildings, they'd bring the army. The Marines really like to be loud and trash talk, but thats not always a bad thing, it just makes them seem tougher than the other services, but in reality I think they're equal. And anyone here saying that marines are actually tougher and army or navy or air force are just back up clearly gets their info from Call of Duty

LET START WITH THE MARINES THEY ARE NOT ELETE AND ARE TOLD WHAT TO DO BY ARMY GENERALS AND HAVE NEVER EVER WON ANY WAR ALONE BECAUSE THEY ARE SUPPORT FOR THE ARMY! THEY CAN BE DISBAND IF NO MONEY AND WOULD BE THE FIRST TO GO! THEY ARE BRAVE BUT IN A WAR YOU FIGHT FOR YOU LIFE!
MARINES IN HISTORY HAVE LOST ABOUT 50,000 MEN!

The first guy is a DUMB@SS!!!!

How can you say the Army is Back up??? That is completely disrespectful. For your information, Army personnel have more casualties than the Marines. Both Soldiers and Marines are on the Front Lines, but the fact is, there is no such thing as the front lines, everywhere is a DANGEROUS place. Both Army and Marines are out there fighting and dying for their Country, while stupid people like the first guy is saying Army is just back up, what a bunch of bull$hit!!

Join the Army, then tell me if it's back up!

Go Army! Go Marines! They both kick @ss!!

As an adi (assistant drill instructor) army has a partial psychological break down 4 weeks. Marines have a total psych break down 8 weeks. Bad talk the Marines to someone who has been out any number of years they will want to kick your butt. Once a marine always a marine remember that. Doesn t take anything to brain wash a kid.

Marines aren't the only people on the front like. Army's there too. My father was 101st Airborne in the Army and he was front line. I've dated Marines and they are as well. If you are looking for top-knotch though (sorry dad) Marines are were to go. Training for the Marines are physical and mental. It's the mental part of the training that makes BT for the Marines so known. If you can handle getting yelled at and stuff then you'll do fine. You just have to take what they are saying to heart and understand why they say those things. You can't go in thinking that your the $hit and that they don't know anything. If you go in knowing that this is what you want to do, that you'll do anything to get there, and that your instructors know what they are taking about, then you'll do just fine. Semper fi!

it's hard, but imagine the pride you will have when you are done. Besides, thousands have done it before, so you can do it too.
