I bottle-fed an orphaned kitten, and right after his eyes opened up and he started to walk around (which was around two weeks)
I put a shoe-box lid (the shallow kind, about an inch-and-a-half deep )with some cat litter in it, put him in the mini-litter box a few minutes after he was done eating and took his paw and dug in the litter.
After the 2nd time I did it, he got it down.
So if your kitten is walking, now is the time to introduce it to the litter box.

At about 4-6 weeks of age ... when momma cat stops cleaning them herself. You need to make sure there is some waste in the litter box already ... then put kitty in and let him/her have a look around and see what the purpose of the litter box is. If he/she tries to jump out right away, put kitty back in a couple times ... till he does explore it a bit. Good luck.

I assume you are talking about a litter box. usually within the first month or so.
As far as using a restaurant restroom their little paws always have a problem with the doorknobs so they can't use them by themselves.

if you just got her and she is not using the bathroom by herself, she may have been taken away from her mother to soon. you may have to stimulate her with cotton balls soaked in warm water. just rub her back side gently and she should go immediately. it sounds gross, but it's really not that bad. hope this helps.
