Question about Sexual Abuse?

My stepbrother used to fool around with me from the time I was 3 years old and he was 8 years old. There was no penetration involved, but sexual touching, exposing himself, stuff like that. This went on for about 5 years. Is this considered sexual abuse? I remember at first I didn't want to but he said stuff like "Do you think your mom would let me do anything to you that was wrong?" So I thought it was okay and went along with what he wanted to do. But I remember it felt wrong and dirty and I felt guilty about it.

It certainly is sexual abuse. Penetration does not need to occur for it to be considered sexual abuse. The fact that he made statements like that coupled with the fact that you did not want to do it, add to the fact that he was wrong about what he did to you. I hope that you are working through the trauma.

Child Protective Services considers Sexual abuse any time there is sexual contact between two children with more than a 3-4 yr age gap. In your case, yes, this would be considered sexual abuse.

In response to the man saying this is just play, you have to consider the fact that your brother was 5 yrs older than you and that it went on for 5 yrs, so until he was 13. A 13 yr old sexually touching an 8 yr old is absolutely sexual abuse and he was old enough to be charged and considered a sex offender.

In response to the person saying that your brother was probably abused as well, this is not true. There are plenty of abusers who were not abused and vice versa, there have been studies done showing that there is no basis behind this statement.

The standards have changed on this. While you might feel guilty, it sounds more like kid stuff than abuse. He was old enough to know it was wrong, but it is likely that someone else caused him to do what he did. Abused people often become abusers.

What is important right now is that you look in the mirror to see that you are a good person who would not do that. If you can do that, you should view it as something in the past that could not harm you. That can help you be on the lookout for others who might be getting same abuse.

how old are you? this sounds like a ploy to be honest.. i don't know too many people that have vivid memories of when they were 3.. but if this is true then you should seek help.. but your typing and sentence structure suggests you aren't very young.. you even used quotes and capitalized the first letter in the quote.. that suggests you have a higher level of education than the people who would normally ask this question.. again if this isn't a joke then get help.. but if it is it's a sick joke.


also (assuming this is true) if he was 8 and doing that type of thing it was most likely because it had been done to him in the past.. just an fyi.

Yes thats sexual abuse hun. You should definitly tell an adult about this right away preferrably a family member. Give him an asskicking too.

Yes, it was abuse. Seek some help, any kind, the school counselor, call your local police for guidance.

I hope your stepbrother is locked up and doesn't have the ability to hurt anyone anymore.

YES YES!!! ABUSE. You got molested. If he was doing this to you then he could have been wanting to do this to other little children. Turn him in, it's never too late unless he's passed away.

It is a part of life....Kids experiment, OK...all do, so quit denying guys that you haven't........Man, My older female cousins played around with me from age 4 to 12 and believe me, I am now 50 and realize that everyone plays around at that age. No big deal..I'm straight with 3 kids....If you never played around, you are lying to yourself!!!!!
