I used thinning shears on myself because when I would get my hair thinned professionally they would never thin it as much as I wanted. The instructions I got with the shears told me to start cutting an inch away from my scalp, but it actually starting chopping the hair off there and now I have short, uneven chunks of hair on my head. Can I go to a salon to get this fixed, or what can I do at home to make this look better?

You can use a flatiron until you get an appointment at a salon where they know how to razor cut.

The problem with thinning shears is that it takes the hair off in straight chunks. Razor thinning will graduate the hair lengths and make it all blend in together.

If your top layers are really short now, it'll take a while, even after having them fixed, to blend in normally again. But it's worth it to not have an unwanted chunky look!

That sucks...you should have never tried that....there is nothing you can do but get your hair cut...maybe try layers to blend the chunks back in....either that just use a flat iron until it can grow out....thinning should ONLY be done on the bottom layer of your hair so you cannot see it when the hair is down....and I don't know what crappy brand would suggest doing it 1 inch from the scalp....you never do it within 4 inches of the scalp on women...one inch on men
