They are here because of many reasons... mostly economics, they can't succeed in their own countries, because the system there prevents them from ever succeeding to do so, they are poor, will always be poor, and have a slim chance of ever becoming rich.

Most don't come to be here permanently or take over, they come to work and send money back home so they can better themselves there. Hence why they chose not to assimilate, they are not like the legal immigrants who come here to live permanently and will assimilate accordingly. Some do come here for that reason though, so it's not all of them, but most of them come just to work and better themselves back home, except that in doing so they tend to have the trouble in going back.

Some come out of persecution, mostly from other countries that are not Mexico, such as Colombia and Haiti, where they are having trouble with insurgents and guerrillas.

A few come looking for "the American Dream", but American immigration laws make it difficult for someone who isn't rich, or educated to immigrate legally. A poor dirt farmer in northern Mexico is most likely not eligible for even one of the options avaialable to legally immigrate to the US, so it becomes an issue that the only option for them is to do it through the border.

Illegal aliens are here because there are jobs for them here. Get rid of the supply of jobs for them, and there will be no illegals. All you have to do is make it a criminal offence punishable by 20+ years in prison (for all executive officers, hiring managers, and human resource managers) to hire illegal aliens.

And no, they don't get welfare or food stamps unless they are legal (or have really really good fake green cards...but they would have to be really good). A few have gotten through the system, but motly it's legal ones or middle class Americans that figure a way to collect welfare. I knew a guy once that collected welfare and foodstamps from 3 states using 5 names...he just coasted through life with lots of money all the time. We argued a lot because he was a republican. White Male Republican.

They may not have the resources , money , or relatives to come here legally. They may be looking for a better way of life. Many come here to work, to help their families, to escape poverty, hunger, and possibly inhumane conditions they are living in .
The United States is a dream for many people in other countries. They believe they will have a better lifestyle, education, and freedom from dictatorship. Free to love, to choose whom they wish to marry, or to have a chance to live without pain and terror, that they may encounter in their life.
They are here, they have been here, they will do their best to live their dreams in a world that can be as cruel as it is kind, no matter where you are from . A solution will long be sought after we are gone.
One never knows , it just may be one of those illegal immigrants that will save your life , or the life of someone you love someday!
There are many Americans that are guilty of everything said about immigrants, including living in filth. There are many that work harder, for a lot less to survive, than any of us born here.
Yes it is illegal for them to be here, but the animosity is now becoming an obsession . Recent political media has created hostility toward immigrants in general, whether illegal or legal. We are not a perfect society ,and who knows ,if we were in their shoes what we would do. Thank god we will never know . God bless America!

Why would a sitting president be SO out of touch with his oath of office and with what is happening? Quick answer: he isn't. He's a driving force assisting illegal immigration. Why would the House of Representatives be so clueless for two decades concerning this quickening national nightmare? How could 434 (save Congressman Tom Tancredo) representatives be so useless to their constituents for so long? Short answer: they're part of the problem on both sides of the political aisle. How could 100 senators twiddle their thumbs while Americans write, call, phone, fax, attend town meetings and form militia groups to combat illegal aliens in every community and every state?

The rest of the world sees this as the land of oportunity, but evidently since they are illegal, they aren't in the system, so our taxes raise so we can support them.

They come to do the jobs that Americans wouldnt even think of doing....How many times have you seen Americans on top of a roof, roofing when the weather is over 100 degrees...in my town...all I saw were Mexicans and our weather was flipping hot...we had weeks were it was 110 or more and they were still up there working....who else is going to do that kind of work and still be proud.

Because they can get away with coming here illegally. If they will not be stopped by the government, who would not want to come here. The opportunity. Poverty here is the middle class in Mexico. They have no right to be here and need to be sent home, but I understand why they want to come.
