The egg had to hatch the chicken. Genetically speaking, it is far more likely that the egg came first, due to a genetic mutation or recombination of other chicken like birds. It is highly unlikely that a chicken like bird evolved into a chicken and found another one just like it to mate with and produce a fertile egg... so, the egg.

Chicken. How else would the egg get there? God made all the creatures, Adam named them so the chicken obviously came first.

The egg because it would have been a genetic mutation in the embryo that would have resulted in the egg of a chicken. this is because the mutation of the mother of the egg would not have cause it to become a chicken itself but to pass the traits along to future generations.
