gel is crappy for scrunching...you need to use a firm hold mousse and pump hairspray...if this makes it too firm, them dont use the hairspray ...but mousse will work alone

Okay I have the answer you have been looking for I have had the same problem and after ALOT of money and time I found the greatest stuff known to frizzy hair. John Freda Frizz Ease Serum! It's not a gel it doesnt dry out your hair it gives it moister and also enriches your curls. you can get it at walmart for $5 to $8 depending on size. You just shampoo and Condition with a good moisturizing kind and while your hair is still soaking wet take a quarter size amount in palm and start at ends work your way up. Then brush your hair and cruch. I promise you will be amazed!

OTC (over the counter) gels and hairsprays have a high alcohol content and thats why they dry hair out....and is making it friZZy!!
I think you should try Curls Rock by Catwalk.... it more of a scrunching cream so you moisturize as well as styling your hair!! if you wanted you could try Small Talk by Bed Head.... it works just as well, it just smells REALLY good!!! and you should always start with a Professional shampoo and conditioner.... Paul Mitchell is have a really good sale right now... 1-liter shampoo & 1-liter of conditioner for $25.... just visit any local salon....
but if you're using all that much proudct on your hair this may also help .....
Everyony should DEEP CLEANSE their hair once a week ( i recomend paul mitchell TEA TREE... it awesome and it makes your scalp feel sooo relaxed, clean and minty- fresh!) .... and if you use large amounts of hair products then twice a week..... this allows your hair products to work as they're supposed to and you dont waste your $$

Try THIS if it doesnt work.. ur out maybe $3 ...
PINK OIL MOISTURIZEr- it is going to be in the "black" hair section of walmart or k mart or any other dept. store if u have a black beauty supply go there... I have naturally curly hair and this was the only thing that would keep my friz away...
While wet I would apply the moisturizer- in a scrunching pattern all over!
If u want to hold the curl longer u can use a mousse in addition
I am not african american but my hair is naturally curly... Nothing else worked for me .... it seems like it will make ur hair greasy but it doesnt! and my mom ( who is just a regular white lady with long thick hair) Uses it too!!!!

Try either the new Herbal Essences gel fro curly hair or Garnier Fructis Hard Curl gel. They both work wonders on my hair!
Comb hair while wet, then work the gel through while scruntching and allow to air dry. I also spray mine w/ hairspray spritz (Suave Professionals) to hold the curls together as they dry. :)
Good Luck!!

you need some kind of leave in conditioner.
the problem is either the humidity or what i really think it is is that
your hair is too dry and actually, gel is soooooooooooo bad for your hair. gel contains alchohal which, yup you guessed it, dries out your hair. take it from me; i used to be a gel girl, but ive switched to "got 2b sex and full" hair serum, its not too
expensive and a little dab goes a long wau, it will give you the
"crunchy" gel feel but theres no alchohal in it and i think its hinestly better b/c your hair is stiff but not like a piece of plastic.

my SD uses a heavy moisturizer to help weigh down her hair and keep frizzies to a minimum. She then uses major hair gel to get her curls under control.

Yeah styling products sdont really help. I have frizy hair too and find that applying curd helps. Before you wash yuor hair apply curd to you hair and scalp and let it be for 15 min and then rinse with shampoo and warm water. Make sure that the curd is room temperature.
