Indian nationality law does not allow dual citizenship.
Basically, for her to gain Indian Citizenship, she will gave to give up US Citizenship, because India does not allow both. At the moment, as she is a child, so it will not matter. She will retain her dual citizenship until she reaches the age of consent in India, once that is done, she will be forced to chose a nationality, if she does not chose one by a certain date, they will strip her of her US citizenship, basically... they will apply to the US Government as if she had renounced her citizenship with them.
If she choses US citizenship, she becomes a foreigner in India and will need to apply for legality there, which brings back the dilemma because to become an Indian Citizen, she must give up the US citizenship (or any citizenship she may have). Unless the laws in India change by the time she reaches the age of consent, then that's how it will be. It will be up to her to decide, but at the moment, you can give her Indian citizenship and she will have dual until that age.
She can however, always gain back US Citizenship. The US allows for persons in such predicaments to give up their citizenship and regain it back at any moment. So if she choses Indian citizenship, and gives up the US Citizenship, but then in the future she wants it back, she can always claim it back (but due to Indian law, will be giving up her rights to the Indian one).

she will always have dual citizenship. since she was born in the US you should have a birth certificate saying that she was born there. Its a good idea to have 2 copies and leave one with someone that you trust in case you loose it or loose her passport. Also you can call the State Department in DC and they will send you a booklet about what you can do if you loose your passport. Most countries have an American EMbassy, and they would be able to help you there when it expires. Best thing to do is not let it expire. Also as far as I know... if you were born in America, even though you become a citizen of another country, you are really dont loose it. Just on paper. Once your born here you are an American. No matter where you go

You must already having a US passport for your daughter . apply for the duel citizen ship from here itself . it takes about two months or so to obtain it . if you apply for it in Inida , god only knows when you would get it and how much you will have to pay for it leaglly nd illegally.
You know that we have a Takkal government there. That is though evey citizen is equal before law according to the constitution , for one the same pupose , the Governemtn itself has prsecribed special fee for quick processing and that those who do not pay the special fee , the ordinary citizen entitled to equal treatment will have his case processed slowly in the normal course . That is the equality bfore law and no political party or not citizen has questiuoned it as ther eare so many who are accustmed to apay bribe , take it easy . So now the government itself takes a speed money. Thre is no country in the world that charges speed money so brazenly. They will also charge something extra even for thier own citizens if hey happen to be NRI,If you are a non-NRI , your fees will be some thing and if you are an NRI , it will be more for the same purpose . So we have a something government . the government itsle in a way taking extra money form citizens for processing cases .
So the best way would be to apply for it here itself. So that that they would at least process it quickly and there would be none to demand any bribe her as it will be embarassing for them to do take bribe here in a foreign country.
You can renew her US passport in Inida itself in the US consulate concerned without having to pay any extra or speed money or bribe and quickly also . The Inidian government will have nothing to do with it .
But try to secure the duel citizenship from her e itself before you relocate as othre wise you will have to get a visa even fo the minor child from the Inidan consulate in the US and will have to be renewing it preiodically in Inidia every time paying a hefty fees in Inida . The duel citizenship will be for life and you won't have to apply for a visa for the child to be there in India as long as you like .

She will always be an American citizen. You can apply for dual citizenship in India but it does not effect her US citizenship.

Your daughter is an American citizen and therefor will be able to maintain her passport so long as you file at the consulate for replacements. She cannot have however dual citizenship.
