Good thought except for the words POOR and FOOLS. Many religious people are RICH and even quite EDUCATED.
As a concerned human u may want to improve their lot by facts, truth, logic and science. When we try to condemn them as POOR FOOLS, we do the same stupid thing they do by condemning everybody else. So be kind pal.
It is unfortunate that almost all religious leaders BRAINWASH
their followers and others to BELIEVE that theirs is the TRUTH and NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH and all those who do not believe that GO TO HELL. The fact that there are 3 or 4 major religions in the world itself prove that ALL of them cannot be TRUE. So begin the divisions, fights, inquisitions, jihads, wars etc.etc.
First of all let's all be evolved humans who do no harm!!!!

What really brings me down, though, is the fact that they react with such hatred and anger to your criticism of their religion. That's a part of their beliefs, also. Just look at 90% of the responses to atheists' questions here on this board.
I love religious people as much as anyone else. And I sincerely care about them. And yes, I do feel pity for them. But more than anything else, I just want them to stop fighting with each other, and me! And no matter how much common sense you show them, and no matter how polite you are with them, you will touch a nerve every time when you show them something that clearly demonstrates their religions' falsehoods. And then you have to endure the bile that they will spew forth in response to it. They will treat you like you're the devil himself. It really saddens me, on a regular basis.
Edit - Take a look at Mommy 2 Be up there... making a joke about taking bottled water to hell... If you truly believe that we atheists are going to be tortured in unspeakable ways, for eternity, simply for not believing what you believe... do you really think that's funny? Do you really think that that's worthy of making light of? How despicable is your comment? Just how hateful are you towards others, that you can even think with "glee" about such a thing? Think about that, "mommy" when you teach your children about love.

You can pity them. It doesn't hurt. But you know many times in life,
It happens that they are the ones YOU will need before you leave this planet.
I have had many people come to me, for help, prayers, guidance
and the like in times of a crisis. At that time they forgot all about the criticizing they had done.

I feel the same way too. I pity them for limiting themselves to one thing, to one belief system, and not being interested in growing and learning things for themselves. There's so much more to life, so many aspects of the universe to learn, and it saddens me that they choose to be content with what others tell them.

On the one hand (paragraph) you have pity. In the other you recognize but do not exercise the right for all to choose their path. What is wrong about anothers' path is not for each of us to judge...except for ourselves. Because in the end, we all have personal responsibility for our own lives.

If your truth is true, and my truth is true, then neither is true
That is called relativism.
Truth is one.
Either one is correct and the other is not, or both are wrong. There can not be multiple truths, logically.
No need for pity...that would be hypocrtical. Honor the diversity.

We can't think for ourselves....Do you really think that not believing in a creator and self - worship is AN ORIGINAL thought? Do you really think you and your krew are the first generation to come up with this stuff? Now that's thinking for yourself! How Original!
