I don't know about their tastes, but I am Chinese and I DO have a taste for white men. Lol. Or maybe they hardly see a Chinese person in a regular english language taught class from where they came from. I think he said in class he is from North Carolina or something. Should I try to make small talk with him in the future or just forget it???

If any guy occasionally looks at you , that a indication that he likes what he sees, and is interested but shy to approach you. So this means you should make the first move, just be casual, and ask his name and talk about the assignments you have in the class, get to know him better.

Absolutely try the small talk. Who knows! Maybe he's too nervous to talk to you and is hoping that you've noticed his interest. Could be he's afraid of being let down so he's seeing if you'll make the first move.
It's not like you're asking him to marry you. You have the class in common. Talk about that. It's an easy starter!

I don't understand why you would NOT talk to him. Just chat with him, get to know him, and see where it goes. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. If you don't get a boyfriend out of the deal, maybe you will at least get a friend who can advise you on how to handle future encounters with guys you're attracted to.
