i handle dry ice many times. at worst you just get frost bite. but if you aren't afraid of the cold, it doesn't do anything. maybe some ice will stick to your figers because the moisture froze attaching the ice onto your hands.

Touching it quickly will not harm you. However if you pick it up with your bare hand, the continuous pressure of the dry ice against your skin will quickly cause frostbite, and can even freeze your skin at the point of contact. You can handle a small piece by continuously dumping it back and forth from one hand to the other. But gloves are still safer. And a large piece should not be handled without protective gloves, again because the greater pressure exerted against your skin by a heavier piece will freeze your skin faster.

You will get a superficial skin burn if you handle it long enough. Get a glove pick it up and set in a porcelain toilet. When the smoke clears, leave the bathroom, the next person to flush that toilet will get a surprise.
The dry ice froze the toilet and when that room temp water that was in the back of the tank hits it, the porcelain shatters into a 100's of pieces its hilarious.

I don't think anything bad will happen right away, but if you leave your hand on the ice long enough it will stick to your hand and be painful and difficult to remove--dry ice is much, much colder than frozen water. Better wet your hands first.

It will depend on how long you leave your skin in contact with the dry ice. Momentary contact will do little or no damage to your skin. Prolonged contact can lead to frostbite or more extensive deep tissue damage, but you would have to hold on to it for a while (more than 5 minutes) for that to happen.

Your fingers will hurt and the dry ice might stick to your fingers. Just use water to wash it off.
Oh wait..... Isn't dry ice made of frozen carbon dioxide or something?? If you put water onto a cup of dry ice, wouldn't smoke come out of it??
If the dry ice is carbon dioxide, i suppose you could touch it forever and still nothing will happen except a very tired arm.

you can touch it all you want with scissors or something metal and listen to it squeal and adding it to a bucket of warm water is very exciting but if your going to pick it up you should use gloves.
