I have recently tried to make my own website showcasing my paintings but it was too much of a hassle. I've found someone willing to design, host, and register the domain, along with monthly updates and other goodies for $30 a month. So the first question is- is that a good price?
Second I know what I pretty much want on my website but I was wondering if you had any examples of an artist's website that caught your attention. Especially one with a statement/resume on it. I would like to look at a few to get an idea.
Thank you to everyone who answers!

Thank you for bringing the sales aspect to my attention but as of now, I do not want to sell my artwork online. Also, I doubt without much exposure, that I would make many sells online.

Check out my web site is the best price ever because it is free. There are extra things you can pay for to make it better I only pay $10 a year for my name being the addres. It is easy to make and add new images and other things, no hassle and no complecated stuff.
Check it out http://www.piotrwolodkowicz.com
Also this web site is a template from a web based gallery so I get a lot more exposure than having one by my self.
good luck

It is only a good price if it offers you what you need.
Designing, hosting and registering are all good things, but as an artist desireing to market your product, this falls way short of your total needs.
You mention nothing about the sites capability to handle queries, sales, credit card transactions and record keeping. These last functions are easily automated by a good site, but without the capability, YOU are left to handle the mundane business details, which WILL take up a LOT of time, even if you only enjoy a modest sucess.
Good price is not simply a matter of cheap. You have to assess the VALUE of what the hosting site offers. Like one person has already suggested, look around for other artist sites, such as Yessy, and Slantville. And do research on others before you commit to anything.
The links, below are only a couple of sites. I don't recommend either as they may not meet YOUR needs. (I like slantville because I was one of the founding fathers and I wrote the FAQ page. On the town map, I live in the little outhouse near the lower left.) I am NOT plugging these. They are just examples

Sorry, yet you quite can't study something clever outdoors a dojo. this question gets asked lots, so which you will look up lots of stable solutions in the closed questions section. the quick tale is that martial arts makes use of very precise innovations to grant optimal speed and skill. No video can instruct that time of element. Even after sixteen years of coaching, i'm consistently attempting to enhance my speed and skill. there is often somebody that does some thing extra desirable than you, so which you ask that guy or woman for a pair of counsel. over the years, all those little advancements upload up. undesirable technique is ineffective and a confusing undesirable habit to interrupt. many cases I easily have helped pupils who transferred in from different faculties with rotten innovations. those human beings would desire to unlearn their undesirable stuff earlier they'd study the main appropriate thank you to do issues.

Yahoo offers site with more than enough bandwidth to load hundreds of art images. I pay about $12/month, and build pages using Yahoo's free SiteBuilder. Easy. $30/month is slave wages so yes, that is a great price. I don't but prices online because prices for my work sold at home, in galleries and shows vary due to commission or lack thereof. So, one piece can move from venue to venue at differing prices. See my site at www.victorpytko.com. And, that's with simple tools.

Get on the computer, go to google and type in "Artist's Websites". You might get some ideas from there.
