You can find Genealogy information out of your local libraries , There is a place in Los Angeles that holds nothing but old records of the past. You may want to go onto the Internet and put in Genealogy. See what comes up. I have traced my Family tree back to the 17th Century. Just by the means mentioned above.
If you have living relatives ,asked questions and get names and dates . You will be surprised how fast the info will come in.....Good Luck .....There are also organized web sites who will do the research for you for a small fee ...

These are the 3 free sites I use. Rootsweb gives you about the same info as Ancestry which costs you a monthly charge. It also has a database called Worldconnect where other researchers has posted their ancestors and there is a message board where they post info such as obits or bible records that were found in their research. The usgenweb is a state and county search and the lds site is the Latter Day Saints which has loads of info not only for the United States but for other countries as well.
If you need more help, you may want to post in the Genealogy category. There are several Genealogists in this category who can help with all kinds of research.
I have been working on my ancestors for over 2 years. I also go to one of our libraries here that has a genealogy department. I have used Ancestry and HeritageQuest free with my library card. I have access to original documents on microfilm and books of several counties in all the states. Census records, birth, marriages, cemetries, deaths, and other things that have been published. Reference books for contact info from other countries.
