If you will not be attending the wedding and bringing it with you, send it so it arrives prior to the wedding. If you can't do that, then as soon as you can after the date.

What I gather is that you really have until the first year anniversary, but most people bring gifts to the wedding which may be a bit more standard. If there is a reason why you cant, I say get it as soon as possible- the gift will be accepted and a thank you note should be sent by the newlyweds.

"proper etiquette" says that you have up to 1 year after the wedding to send a gift.

Generally, though, I think people usually send it earlier than that. If you want to wait the whole year and are worried they'll think you're rude, you can always include in the card something cute that references proper etiquette, like: You'd probably thought all the fun and excitement of getting wedding gifts was over, so I thought it would be best to follow the guide of proper etiquette and wait it out to give you an unexpected surprise a year later!"

Up to the first anniversary. But the longer you wait the more it might be nice to include the word belated.

Plus every couple loves to receive gifts from the wedding. And if it is quite a ways after the fact it is even a more pleasant surprise.

It should be shortly before, or shortly after the wedding (maybe 2 months after_. The one year thing is an etiquette myth.

Etiquette says you have until the first anniversary.

Try not to abuse this by combining it with a birthday or holiday present unless you're getting something truly spectacular.

In U.S. immediately. You bring your gift to the reception. If not, you can send it to the bride's mother's house. Of course, this depends on the situation. If they already have a house, send it there.

Officially it's one year from date of wedding but if you are a close friend/family member I'd get on it or they are going to wonder what your deal is.
