Jet Blue has the most room (domestic coach) in my opinion. But have a look at these links:

I used to work for an airline and I would upgrade "wide body" pax to business or first class whenever possible. I've seen too many large people suffer discrimination and hatred simply because of their size.
I never judged them or tried to guess why they are bigger than others...a soul is a soul.

I've had good experience with Continental and Delta. Delta does the most to find another seat next to an empty, and also I don't know the numbers involved, but I always fit into their seats where I don't always fit into the others.
There are some movements going to try to get airlines to be more realistic when it comes to sizing their seats so hopefully this will improve in the future.
Happy flying.

I would have to disagree with Continental. Their 757s and 767s seem smaller than airlines like American or United. Delta has roomy seats. But the roomiest seats seem to be JetBlue.
Check out seatguru.com for seat measurements on airline body types of all major airlines. Its an awesome site.
Good Luck and Happy Travels!!!!

There is actually a TV.show on about Southwest Airlines and people who are unhappy with the service they receive and how they try to resolve the problems. Every airline has it's quirks, some much more annoying than others. i would recommend you go to their web sites and pose your question to each of them to find the best one to accommodate you.

i dont know of any fat-friendly airlines but i figured id inform you a little about why a second ticket is often suggested. im in school right now for air traffic controlling and and piloting, so i know a little about the issue.
before each flight, all the passenger weight is accounted for in what is called 'weight and balance.' the weight and balance of the passenger area is figured in with the cargo below. this is all done to properly load the cargo area and to ensure that enough fuel is on board to fly the route.
now, airlines are in business to make money. they make their money with the cargo area, carrying freight across the country and around the world. they make little to nothing on the passenger tickets. each plane has a separate balance check to it. only so much total weight can be loaded. as we americans get fatter and take up more and more of that total allowed weight, less cargo is able to be loaded. they begin to lose money.
some airlines are starting to realize that if they charge heavier people for a second ticket, their extra weight doesnt become an issue when looking at the profit of that particular flight. its all about money. they arent trying to offend anyone. they just need to make their dollar too.
you mentioned some bad experiences with southwest. ive had nothing but good experiences with them. i wouldnt get turned off of them quite yet, because all the airlines are in the same situation. southwest is a great air carrier.
anyway, after this huge answer, my suggestion is either a second ticket, or flying first class where the seats are wider and spaced farther apart. hope book of a reply gave you some insight into the airlines reasoning. take care.

You should fly Continental and get a business seat. They are really big.

why so wide? should the airlines go out of thier way because you can't push away the plate? Lets say your an accountant and your client requests that because they have had a bad year with revenue that you overlook a few line items expenses to improve the bottom line? What if you were a toll both attendant? Do you let the occasional tourist thru since they forgot to get cash to pay the tolls? Take a little responsibilty four your own actions, either get a first class seat or a second seat in coach to accomidate your eating habits.

As full as most flights are today, you'll have to either buy 2 seats, fly first or business class, or go on a diet. Your choice.
