Yes, LimeWire is legal.

What you do on LimeWire may not be legal however. Are you grabbing and sharing MP3 files? If the artist did not make and distribute that MP3 themselves and declare it as free, then what you are doing is illegal.

Using Limewire or any other P2P file sharing program such as Kaaza or Bearshare, to download any copyrighted music, movies, software etc. in illegal in the USA.

It is rare, but people do get sued and fined for using these P2P programs. Such as this girl here:

Also, many of the files that are downloaded using these programs are bundled with viruses, trojans, spyware, and adware. Always scan everything you download using any P2P program with your anti-virus and anti-spyware software before you use then.

Yes it is legal, the program only provides links to files :) They don't host the files :) That's why fbi can't do anything to them, because the company that made that software can't be responsible for what people download or host

I was told it is in Canada but not the USA. Apparently Canada doesn't have the laws enforced yet. They are busy with other matters and song downloading isn't priority.

It is file sharing and the files come from other computers.
Do the people have the right to share these files with you, doubtful.
