Are you sure it was 6 weeks old? You got the puppy last night, Im not saying anything was wrong with the puppy but at 6 weeks it shouldnt have choked on can food. Maybe u should check into it. Sorry about your puppy
Many times puppy dog choking happens when puppies are playing with something they swallow it accidentally and the foreign object becoming lodged in their throat cause them to either become completely unable to breathe or their throats to become partially blocked. In either case the result is that the dog will often wildly run forward and back with its head held high and neck stretched out, trying to breather better. Also the puppy dog will often try and dislodge the object that is blocking its airways either by using its paws or trying to vomit. Often if the puppy has something stuck in its throat it will whine loudly and wildly as if it is in extreme pain. It will most likely be abnormally salivating. If you can see the foreign object then it is ok to try and remove it with your fingers although there is a very big risk of the puppy inadvertently biting your fingers. If you cannot see what is causing the blockage do not attempt to remove it with your fingers as you could end up worsening the injury of your puppy. With a small puppy you can hold them up by their back legs
and with their head hanging down open up their mouth with your free hand and pull outwards on their tongue. It is likely that with this the foreign object will fall out. If not you should proceed immediately to the Heimlich maneuver. Be careful when performing the Heimlich on small puppies as you could inadvertently break a rib or cause internal damage if you squeeze too hard. If you have a large puppy dog lay them so that their head is hanging down and opening their mouth quickly clean out their throat while pulling outwards on their tongue. Again if this doesn't work then proceed immediately to the Heimlich maneuver. If after removing the blockage the puppy is still not breathing or is breathing extremely shallow then begin with artificial respiration (mouth to mouth) and if the puppy has no pulse then begin CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation

i am sorry,it is a very hard moment to deal with.
ok, you should not have been allowed to buy a six week old pup. She should have still been with her mother until eight weeks old. Her mother would have been weaning her. The person you bought the pup from is obviously not reputable. When feeding a puppy you mash up all the food so there is no chewing. She would not of been capable to properly do that yet. I think you should wait a while till you get another puppy because even though you had her for a short time , he was still part of your family!

Well, there is such a thing as the doggy version of the Heimlech maneuver: lift the dog up on its hind legs if it's large or across one arm if it's small, and then push upward sharply under the ribcage. That should dislodge the item that's stuck.
But there is something about your story that doesn't sound convincing. Choked on canned food? Kinda hard to do, I think, even for a puppy. Just how big of a glob did she try to swallow, and why didn't it break up when you tried to remove it?
Sorry for being overly suspicious, and if this is genuine, then I'm sorry for your loss.

She has every right to choose how she breeds and sells her dogs first off and good for her for checking into someone before selling them a puppy. Why is it that everyone that has a dog think that breeding them is as simple as putting a male and a female together? I mean, yeah it's that simple to get a result, but the point is that to actually be a breeder means knowing your animals and knowing what's best for them. And on top of that, people that purposely breed mixed breeds should be ashamed of themselves. Not only are the dogs hideous but the only reason they do it is for financial gain to prey on people that are allergic to dogs and the real kicker with that is that not all dogs mixed with a poodle even turn out to be hypoallergenic. So it's a waste of everyone's time and money. If you're going to breed, do it right or don't do it at all.

really sorry to hear what happened
had a dog once that nicked a big lump of cheese
it tried to gulp it down and got that stuck in its throat and started choking couldnt get it back up as its was soft
i felt along its throat squeezing it between two fingers until i felt it then gently squeezed it, bit like you would with a lump of plastecine or playdo, until it eventually became broken/reshaped and he was able to swallow it
not very scientific method but it worked
worth trying if nothing else works

Did you reach your hand down her throat? If you had a tube or straw you could have pour vinegar now her throat maybe to induce vomiting.
I do not know if this method would work but it would be worth a shot...
Hopefully this will not happen ever again. I am so sorry about your pet.

There's always the Heimlich maneuver. I'm pretty certain you can do it on animals as well as people. I'm sorry about your loss.

The Heimlich works on animals. We've had to do it on our Chihuahua. Sorry about your pup.
