but it depends on what you mean by earthly?
the sun is a huge part of what makes the earth the way it is. without it it there would most likely be no earth, and if it was different, then earth would be different too.
so yes, the sun is an earthly power, in that it irrevovacably belongs to the earth we know.
or do you mean unearthly as in a mystic, transcendent, immaterial entity, like a god? that is possible, though it seems unlikely.
or maybe yu mean unearthly as the opposite of the moderate, lifesupporting way the earth is? a big yes to that. the sun is absolutely no place to be for a child of gaia...
see? there are many answers to a simple question... but that is of course always the case... the simpler a question is, the more elaborate does the anser have to be.

Well, the sun is not earthly, and it is burning gas so it probably has lots of energy and, eventually, power; so yes, it is an unearthly power.
