Well...I don't know if "copied" is a good word...
However, Muhammad found Allah in a tent somewhere (Egypt?) as an obscure little moon god...
He didn't even do a good job reflecting the true nature of Jesus and His disciples. ((It's my understanding...and I could be wrong; that Muhammad couldn't read)).
Any self-proclaimed prophet...I always have concerns about.

No, Islam came more like 1400 years after Jesus, not 600. Mohammed didn't try to copy Jesus, except in recognizing Allah.

No Mohammed(peace be to him) believed in Jesus(peace be to him) .He even said if you don't believed in the prophets that came before me then you don't believe in me.Where he live the people mostly family members was worshiping other gods and idols. They knew nothing of only one God.The Europeans and Americans don't Know much about the religion because no one take the time to find out the truth.Muslims, good muslims know that yes Jesus(Peace be to him) was the greatest Prophet to have came .The Prophet Mohammed(peace may be to him)said"I didn't come to change anything just to correct what it is wrong."

Since Jesus came about 1500 years after Moses, is it possible/likely that Mr. Jesus "copied" the Jewish concept of the Messiah and added a lot of pagan belief.

Mohammed admired many things about Christianity, but he was turned off by the way they were always fighting about doctrines. Still, I'm sure he was inspired by things Jesus said, and Muslims today see Jesus as a prophet.
the term is Islam.

I do not find any similarity between Jesus and Muhammad if not their religiousness. Jesus reformed Mosaic laws while Muhammad brought new laws. Jesus showed his other face (like masochists do) while Muhammad would cut the hand of those who offence him. Jesus teaches the poor to be happy for their state while Muhammad teaches them to fight to get a decent life. Too many differences to cite here. Read first before you ask. No I'm not muslim, but I read.

It was always my understanding that Abraham had 2 children -- one with Sarah and one with his wife's "maidservant" (at his wifes urging since she was barren). The child of Abraham and Sarah was Isaac and thus follows the line to Jesus. The descendants of his other son (Ishmael) are the followers of Islam. See the attached link -- it takes you thru it all.

They both along with Judaism borrowed from stories such as the Epic of Gilgamesh and previous legends and mythology. The Holy Books are guides to life in ancient Mesopotamia. The metaphors can still be relevant for contemporary times if interpreted in a civilized manner.
