For fantastic views, try "Top of the Rock" (great food), or atmosphere: Tavern on the Green (take a carriage ride before/after dinner-especially when it's snowing), You may like the Hard Rock for interesting decor, average food; Steak: Smith and Wollensky or Ruth Chris; anyone of Mario Batalli or Bobby Flays places (Italian and Southwestern, respectively); That's just a sampling, just go to Little Italy, Chinatown, Tribeca and wander around....

Try using opentable.com. Almost all of the restaurants on there are very nice. Some are more upscale and pricey than others, but the website lists all the details about them with links to the websites. Also if you book using the website, you earn points that you can trade in for gift certificates that can be used at any opentable participating restaurant.

Hello, and welcome! If you like sushi, you have to try out Sushi Samba. The ambience is wonderful and I always have a great time there! It is a bit pricey, but most good restaurants in NYC are. ;) Also, it was featured in one of the Sex & The City episodes. have fun!

also, i recommend that you get a ZAGAT 2006 Best Restaurants in NYC guide.
