I don't think so. Think about how much potential for good He gave you and find a way to start tapping it.

I read through the replies to your question and must say that God is not responsible for your happiness...only you are. When I get into a funk, I basically detach myself from the world around me. I don't go inward, I don't block people out of my life, I go outward to see the big picture. I see that whatever my problem is...whatever reason why I'm just plain miserable will pass, it's only temporary. Accepting yourself and the people around you also plays a large part on the happiness factor and is probably one of the hardest things to accept. Oh, and my guide gave me this little tidbit of information the last time I was in a funk and it turned out to be true...the key to happiness is becoming more childlike. Just something for you to think about!

Yes, I could tell by your latest poem, "Lost Are the Dreams."
This time of year, the leaves are starting to turn and the weather is still mild. Why not go on a very long hike through the woods and clear your mind?
I don't know how you're going to get your mind off God if you're constantly in the R&S section.
Actually, I'm kind of curious why the notion of God bothers you so much since you don't believe in Him ...
Peace.

I hate funks... they feel like they are so hard to get out of.
Get up, go out, and do something nice for someone else. The activity is good for your body and doing something for others, no matter your beliefs, is good for the soul. It doesn't have to be huge - something as simple as cleaning the kitchen for your wife or making dinner for your parents makes a huge difference. Not my best examples, but you see what I'm getting at.

I find that I tend to enjoy my "funks". When I was put on Zoloft a few years ago I couldn't stop being happy, which was not only annoying to me, but to everyone around me that enjoyed my depressed/morose sense of humour. Sometimes you just need to be down. It's the way it is.

Permanently or temporarily? Lots of things will make you "happy" for the short term. God's plan of happiness is an eternal one though, and can help people obtain and retain joy in their lives. THAT'S why religious people are so excited about sharing what they've got. It's not an attempt to judge or "push their beliefs" on others. They're just trying to share a good thing that they've found.

No. You must know there IS a God, or you wouldn't have stated so.
Don't you want to go do something nice for someone else? That's all it would take to take the 'funk' right out of there!

Of course there is, however I do not know you well enough to be able to tell you what that is. Personally I like to cook something creative or perhaps just kick back and watch a good movie. Of course I have an easy out as I can bug one of my kids.

You need God to help you.
But you should try to do new things to get your mind off of it.
Hit the mall. Go lime with your friends. Things like that. Read a book, sing a song listen to music.

You can rest assured, that there is no happiness any greater than the happiness that God can give you. And if you are not happy, then you need to seek the face of God and find out why. Many times I do not feel completely happy, yet I am a born-again Christian. But I have found out that all that I can do is to try and live as God would have me to live, seek his face daily, and trust Him to help me through every hardship that I face. Just because you are a Christian, does not mean that you are never going to face hardships and discouragements. But when we do, we must just keep our eyes upon Jesus, and know that He will help us through them. I want God to be in every part of my life.

Think about the people who care about you. Realize that you are a good person, with a good heart. When I get down, I like to do something outside. Go fishing, for example. Play frisbee with my dog and my son in the park. You are loved, my friend.
