You're asking all atheists as though that's what all atheists do?
I thought I'd told you to dispense with the stereotypes.

I don't believe the universe has a consciousness of its own. I don't believe love is particularly spiritual. It is emotional and the two are NOT equivalent, in spite of what Christians and other followers of religion might want to believe. I don't believe in "the Force" that binds us all together, or whatever you might want to call it. People (all creatures throughout the galaxy) exist as separate entities. We can feel love and hate and other emotions, but we can also feel nothing at all. I see no reason to believe that there is some cosmic force out there connecting us all.

I guess technically, I'm not an A-theist, more a 'freethinker'-I'm torn between a-theism (there is no 'proof' of any deity/deities) and polytheism. I see & appreciate things of nature (i.e.-I can not imagine how a human being develops from a single pair of microscopic cells) without something having put some thought into it, not mere coincidence of evolution alone. But I definitely don't accept it's us, then some angels, then an individual male deity who supposedly creates nature & the universe w/o any shred of evidence of single males being able to create life. Many powerful beings getting together and developing what we have makes more sense. That's why I deny an INDIVIDUAL consciousness. I think there would be many, not one.

You are confused about atheism and what it means. Disbelief in deities does not preclude one from believing in a universal divine consciousness that links the oneness of creation. Spirituality doesn't need to involve theism. I wouldn't describe myself as an atheist but my concept of God can't be neatly fitted into the religionist idea of some omnipotent deity.

No, I don't not believe that the universe is a conscious being. Why would I? While we're at it, where did you get the idea that atheists have more than one belief (the non-existence of god) in common?

Very good observation!!
A supreme consciousness/universal intelligence, controlling the universe is a Truth...
We may not believe in the God of religions, which is mainly an imagination of their prophets...but we have to believe in the super-intelligence.
becoz the universe is intellegnt...rules are made and obeyed only if there is intellegence behind

Given that I'm agnostic, I understand what you are saying. (I think) How can you deny it, if you can't prove it either? Spiritual to me is when I see an abused child grow up and become a productive member of society, choosing to not become a product of his/her environment. Spirituality is, for me, found in the struggle to better oneself and persevere through adversity.

Where the hell do you get the idea that atheists affirm the existence of spirituality.
We beleive in nothing, no god, no spirit, no spirituality.

Jains are one of the oldest religions on the planet and predate Christianity by at least 1,000 years.
Jains are spiritual atheists, so on what do basis do you continue to assert that atheists are not or cannot be spiritual?

Someone cannot die, and have their essence or energy live on as spiritual energy without a supreme consciousness involved?
