I would never suggest that a nonexistent being is responsible for anything. Belief in the deity, organized worship of the deity, and those who do the worshipping... now THAT'S what I'm worried about.

Do you think that Zeus is the problem, or that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is the problem? No? Well, I don't think that God is the problem either, for the same reasons.
However, I think that people who believe the Bible is completely accurate end up having irrational beliefs. Your logic in this case is completely circular. Just because the Bible denies that God is a source of confusion does not prove that belief in God is not a source of confusion.
Note that I am NOT saying that beilef in God is the ONLY source of confusion & turmoil! Far from it. There would be confusion and turmoil even if we didn't widespread belief in God. However, I think that real knowledge reduces confusion, whereas irrational beliefs in magic, myths and fairy tales increase confusion.

I don't think god is the problem. I don't believe there is a god. I think god belief, and faith in general is the problem.
Funny you quote the verse that that says god is not the author of confusion. Yet, can you think of anything that has caused more confusion than the concept of god and what is written in holy books?

Ooo, words on paper. Can't argue with that. Must be true. By the way, I just wrote down "god doesn't exist" on a piece of paper. Sorry for killing god, but since anything written down is irrefutable, I guess there's nothing to be done. You can go about the business of living this (real) life now.

Because there are bad people of all faiths killing in the name of God, or using God to justify their sins.
And so many people cannot or will not look through that to find that the problem is not God, the problem is when we do NOT follow God.

Because God is not evident in the world, but his followers are, and they are the reason for turmoil. There is no proof of any religion, and it's time to give up our myths.

Organized religion is the problem. They tend to fight when in close proximity with each other. For example; Northern Ireland/Ireland; Middle east; India/Pakistan; Israel/Palestine
This is what happens when you have absolute belief systems. You are absolutly right if your holy book says so.

God has NEVER been the problem...it is his followers and their interpretations that give a huge problem. When people say they know God's desires, wishes, and ways, they have a very real problem. There is no excuse to break the commandments, and yet it seems that many of God's followers think there is a "except me and thee" tacked onto everyone of them. Quoting the Bible is meaningless....we all know what is right and wrong. To distort wrong into right takes a serious set of convoluted thinking. WE have one very simple rule to follow in life: "Do unto others as you would have done unto you" works very well in all situations, period. That does NOT include thinking "God is on our side," (if he/she were, we would NOT be in war!) and it does NOT include killing in his/her name...PERIOD.

As a Buddhist, I do not believe that blind faith is the solution. I believe that the solution is love and compassion for our fellow man.
"Full of love for all things in the world, practicing virtue, in order to benefit others, this man alone is happy"

Why do believers insist he is the solution? Man is both the problem and the solution.
