he made a good point and if he's smart enough to figure that out, he's to old to be hit any more.... It's time to move on to the next level of punishment grounding and with holding privileges, As the parent your mom does and needs to punish him though that's just the way society works, break the rules pay the consequence

I guess your mom didn't spank him hard enough. Maybe he shouldn't have been fighting in school. It also sounds like your mom doesn't spank him often which means he really deserved it. Depending on the circumstances, if my son came home from school after being in a fight that he provoked he wouldn't have just gotten a spanking, he would have been grounded for months, done all of my chores and gotten straight A's for the rest of the year along with no electronics at all besides music but he would have to earn that back by showing responsibility.
But if he was defending himself, that would be a different story.

If he is only 11 and getting into fights at school there is an underlying problem besides your Mother spanking him. And no she is not wrong if that is the only way she knows of discipline. Has he had problems in the past, is he seeing a therapist, are you from a broken home, has he been molested, is he being teased at school by bullies, is he dropping behind in grades because of drugs, alcohol, not reading at appropriate level. Maybe you could step up and be a good big sister and try to get to the bottom of it then go and talk to your Mother and try to be helpful instead of just judging her.

Sounds like a typical 11 year old, being a smart@ss, but yes, I agree. I've thought the same way in trying to raise my daughter, she's 2 now. It seems hypocritical of me to slap her hand or spank when she does something, when at the same time I am trying to teach her not to hit me when she gets mad at me. However, on the opposite end, there are people who believe that just because a parent does something, it doesn't mean their child is allowed to. For example, my dad swore here and there around us, yet we definitely knew that we were not supposed to.
Even though your brother has a point, he was just more likely trying to get the focus off of him, and turn it around on your mom so he didn't get punished as bad!

I agree to a certain extent.
I personally don't like to spank my kids, I rather talk to them and get things across that way. They are good listeners so I don't have to address them more than 1 or 2 times, with an occasional reminder to keep it fresh in the brain.
First of all I think it was wrong for your mom to do that. I think she should have took a step back rethink the situation and talked to your brother, i think she would have gotten her point across better that way.
I have learned with my kids that if i want them to be honest with me and tell me how things exactly happened, i take the time to hear them out. If I disagree, they get punished, but i do not spank them. I get them were it hurts the most... My son (age 5) his Xbox, ps2 and his GBA, he knows that if he makes mommy mad he gets those things taken away. Now my daughter (age 12) Shes a good girl but when she doesn't listen she gets her cellphone taken away and NO internet time, for a teen today that his a hard blow! So they think before they do things, I treat them like little adults because that is how they act.
I also think that it was wrong for your brother to say that to your mom. He shouldn't talk back to her either, both of you need to respect her no matter what. she IS your mom!

Instead of him being smart for 11 years old...I would say he is an 11 year old being a smart ***. Trying to justify what he did. No remorse on the matter. Mom is right to spank him, but it seems to me that he needs more!!!

in case you extremely safeguard your brother you may inform you mom and dad good away. Ya your brother would be mad at you for a collectively as, yet whilst he's older he would be greatful which you stoped him from runing his existence. it may commence with basically small undertaking, yet whilst he sees it extremely is the thank you to make funds he will sell greater and greater drugs. The greater he's around the medicine the greater possibly he's to do drugs. additionally if he gets caught with the help of the police that's going to bypass on his permenate checklist and harm him lator in existence whilst attempting to get a job or bypass to college some the place. in case you care something approximately your brother (that's looks you extremely care approximately him), you may inform you mom and dad good away so your brother can get help/ only provide up. there is different basic approaches to make funds, help him start mowing lawns if he desires funds for issues, or do chores for friends or parrents.

At the age of eleven he needs to get his *** kicked for being a bad kid. Sorry to say, but how else Willl he learn. Not only that but he just made your mom look like a crappy mom for being a dumb *** at school. He should feel bad that he made wil mom look bad. I think he owes whoever he hit an apology, and his mom an apology for causing her problems. He is lucky he only got spanked. I used to get a 36 inch 3 inch wide BELT.

He is right.
Your mom needed to put him in his room and tell him to think about what he did, then have a talk with him about why what he did is wrong. This won't work if she also hits him. She also needs to find out if he was defending himself in school and not instigating the fight.

You have to be an idiot to think that spanking kids make them violent. That's all this new age crap! It also is sending the world to hell in a hand basket!
Think about it- people used to spank and the crime rate was lower. People are so anti-spanking now and look at the world.
