Those actions are not justified as it involved the coward acts of the IDF to dominate the sky and conduct a mass genocide of the Lebanon's south by dropping bombs. IDF should have started their ground incursion in the beginning as this method won't cause as much destruction to the lives of the civilians. Perhaps the IDF is coward enough as to go on war with Hizbullah face-to-face.

@ sarge927:

The method the Hizbullah's using is called 'Guerilla Tactics'.
They are not cowards as that is how gureilla armies work. That's their advantage.

The REAL COWARDS are the IDFs who repeatedly bombed villages and public infrastructure in desperate search for Hizbullah armies and rocket launchers despite UN's disapproval.

Just look at how inefficient the IDF were! Almost half of Lebanon's gone through IDF cruel action, yet still more than 150 rockets rained down on "israel" daily. The shocking truth is that more that 200 rockets! hit "israel" on the last day of the 34-day onslaught conducted by the IDF right before the truce takes place.

Did "israel" achieve what she soley hold on to achieve that her military might be able to crush Hizbullah during the summer invasion?

Did "israel" get back the 2 kidnapped soldiers in the end?

Did "israel" successfully destroy Hizbullah's rocket launchers?

Think. More than 200 israelis died. Be it civilians or soldiers during the war. Is this the price one have to pay just to retrieve 2(!) in return?

@ choco taco:

IDF have no excuse that they can get away with murdering thousands of Lebanese civilians just by "dropping pamphlets" as a warning before each genocide they conducted towards those people. That’s not a justified action! The villagers are poor where do you expect them to go?

If the IDF is concern about the people safety, they would have started the ground incursion in the place and comb the entire area of rocket launchers and not just "blindly" bombed the whole village just like that.

Just look at the jews settlers themselves, they remain defiant and reluctant even attacked their own armies (IDF) when they've been asked to evacuate their illegal settlements on Palestine's land. The recent amona evacuation sparked a lot of violence.

Do you think by just dropping pamphlets, the IDF have the "will power" to make people evacuate their homes so that they can occupy their land when the ground troops were send in? But then again who can blame "israel", that's what they're good at, occupying their neighbors lands. It's in their blood since decades ago.

First, Israel doesn't need nor ask for justification for any act. When being attacked by terrorists ON ITS OWN TERRITORY! must take action as every normal nation would!
Try to imagine your countries letting some terror group do as they wish, and by that I mean crossing the INTERNATIONAL border, killing 8 soldiers and kidnapping 3 others.
As for Lebanon, while allowing this action to take place from it's territory would actually take responsibility in advance for this acts.
Only now, after this war, it seems Lebanese army took responsibility for south Lebanon and Hezbollah is away for awhile.
As I believe, it won't be long till they'll be back.
Don't expect us ISRAELIS to even let them try next time.

The presence of Israel in the area is all the provocation one needs. It has violently and ruthlessly occupied and subverted a land belonging to the Palestinians. There is not a single village or land that did not belong to Palestinians. Aland occupied by them for thousands of years. Whatever gives the Israelis the right to attack it's neighbors. People get abducted all the time all over the world for political reasons. yet nobody else goes ballistic and on a rampage. There are consequences to be paid by international Law. But Israel seems to be exempt. enough is enough. Read the history of the area not the propaganda.

Israel has no justification for what its actions this summer...Israel attacked indiscriminately Hezbollah objectives and, mostly civilian objectives...And by dropping cluster bombs in the 72 hours of conflict, when they knew that there is going to be a cease fire, really made me believe that they didn't want to destroy just Hezbollah, but also Lebanon...
Now,that Israel has seen how strong Hezbollah is,they are ready to negotiate.Well,i say that they could have done this from the start...
And saying that Hezbollah was hiding among civilian is just a justification that Israel uses for murdering so many innocent people...

Please differentiate between Jews and Isreal. Not all Jews support Isreal's actions. Not even all Isrealis support Isreals actions.

To answer your question, I feel that Isreal's response to having some of its soldiers taken hostage was extreme to say the least. Was it justified? Personally I don't think so. Did it work? Hezbollah is stronger than ever.

******Update:

@sarge927

Again, please reign in your sweeping generalizations. Hezbollah may do the things you describe, but to paint all Muslims with the same brush is irresponsible to say the least!

They were justified in attacking Hezbollah, which was precisely what they didn't do. They went for Beirut instead, causing massive damage and civilian casualties.

Even Hassan Nazrallah, the head of Hezbollah, acknowledged that, had they realized that Israel would take such strong actions in response to the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers, they wouldn't have kidnapped the soldiers.

Israel's decisive action this summer may act as a deterrant to future terrorist acts by Hezbollah.

Imagine this situation: You have problems with a person, perhaps you even feel threatened by this person, so what do you do? You bomb the whole building he's living in, injuring, killing and ruining the lives of many people whose only fault is that they lived with this person in the same building.

You: Israel
The person you have a problem with: Hezballah
The whole building: Lebanon

yes they def were for all those who said that no they weren't justified and then gave reasons that israelis attacked civilians, the terrorists used civilians as human shields, and even then israel tried to keep the civilians safe, think about this they dropped pamphlets everytime they would attack someplace, giving the civilians time to evacuate, even if it meant endangering their own soldiers who could get ambushed by the terrorists who would have knowledge of their plans
somebody mentioned that the terorists used guerilla warfare, well they didn;t, because even people who have used guerilla warfare don't hide amongst their own people endagering the lives of women, children and other civilians
its just despicable how people are so ignorant, i wish all those that said israel wasn't justified could go live in israel during such a conflict

Absolutely NOT.
There are several countries dealing with terrorist attacts now a days, isreal doesn not have any right to go attack another country without even trying the diplomatic way.

Israel should also have PAID in FULL the damage dome to beirut.
